  • Projections that are more accurate are coming out now. Most have OSU going to the Orange Bowl against either Louisville or North Carolina State.

One question: for guys "opting out" of the bowl game, how does that effect their NIL deals? I say, no play-ee, no pay-ee

What a let down. The University should opt out. Louisville and NC State that’s our comp. That’s another reason for changes.

It would be interesting to know what the contracts for the NIL deals have about "opting out" for bowl games. Either way "play" or "opt out", you have to honor the contract.

More like no pay-ee no play-ee. Those bowls have plenty of money to pay the MHJrs of the world to play. If you want eyeballs on your non-CFP games then pony up.

So don't go to south Florida where a huge recruiting base is? There are 6 players on the roster from Florida. Three from South Florida. Do you want to tell them that you turned down an invitation to play in the Orange bowl where their family and friend will be able to watch them play because Ohio State is too good for that bowl? Good luck with that on the recruiting trail.

The race to 82 bowl-eligible teams came to a reasonably satisfying end Saturday. We only ended up with 79 teams at 6-6 or better, but that left room for James Madison and Jacksonville State to get to the postseason when they would not have otherwise been eligible while making the FBS transition.

Minnesota will be the only 5-7 team in a bowl game this season.....

You could not be more wrong.

We have a young team next year and this bowl practice is crucial for them. Especially if many stars sit-out.

And spare me the “Day sucks so it won’t matter anyways.”

I am old enough to remember when Marv got his first start in the Rose bowl when Olivia and Wilson opted out. Something else big happened in that game. I forget. If someone wants to opt out that only gives our younger guys more practice and game time.

But they are still getting their NIL money from OSU, right? THAT'S what I mean.

I think that the NIL money can come from both OSU's collectives and outside sources. It wouldn't surprise me to find out some the Ohio State players even have a NIL agent:

The role of a NIL agency is to help athletes navigate the turbulent waters of the NCAA, state, and university laws, protect their client's rights and livelihood, and represent the athlete during business and partnership negotiations.
