Jesus Christ, a couple more….

CB Andre Seldon…who IIRC, was supposed to be the savior of their CBS at one point. Didn’t record a statistic in 2 seasons despite being a 4*, top 200 recruit. He’s also a 5’8 cornerback.

DB George Johnson. Never heard of him. Recorded 1 tackle in 1 game over two seasons. Former generic 3*. At least he leaves with the “up most” respect for Simple Jim.

5'8 and also a skinny 165 pounds, and DFBIA thought he was going to shut down upper level WRs

This is no shot at Villari - I wish him the best and hope he gets to start somewhere.

I do wonder that if you miss out on the top 1-2 QB's on your board if it is even worth expanding the board and signing one. The whole thing with a guy like Villari was that he'd be in the program forever and be available in case of emergency - or maybe change positions if he was clearly never needed at QB. Seems like at this point you're better off just looking through available players in the portal instead of trying to sign a guy that will never really be a plan A starter.

Would be a fair question, however they didn't just "expand their board" for Villari, they reached deep into the fucking ocean for him. Guy was #1225 overall in the 247 composite and his only other FBS offers were Umass, Buffalo and Kent State. Harbaugh has tended to do this a lot with about every position. Whiff on the top guys and reach for some random unknown whos much closer to the 1000s in ranking than the top 100

They famously whiffed on a number of QBs in that class and had to take Villari at the last possible moment just to get a QB in the class. Nobody saw him being anything more than a Russell Bellomy last-resort guy. That's a wasted scholarship for 2 years.

 I recall some "he might make a great TE if he doesnt work out at QB" chatter from the resident sunshine pumpers over at GoBlow.
