Hell, everybody returning for the 2022 will benefit from the extras days of practice which is allowed due to the bowl game. Others could benefit too, a strong Rose Bowl performance could improve the draft position of any player not returning.

Everyone should remember that what we feel about the season isn't exactly what the team is feeling. Some are pissed, some disappointed and some have lost interest likely. Remember that the true freshmen on this team have never had a CFP run and game to play in and there's a lot of them playing big roles. The RS freshmen and sophomores are hungry to play minutes and earn their spots. If this was a senior laden team, I'd be more worried about them not showing up for this game. That means the Oline is the most suspect for success in this game which could be problematic but the guys behind them are pretty freaking good. CJ and Hendo wont be slacking you can count on that. The playing time and strategy is more problematic in my opinion.

The guys who put those pads on are still going to want to kick the ass of the guy in front of them in the game, I know I did even on the lone losing team I was on. You forget about the season issues and just go play the game. Nobody likes to get their ass kicked and they've just had it kicked by their rivals. Time to man up and go to work.

"The guys who put those pads on" - Wilson opts out. Olave opts out. NPF opts out. Garrett opts out.

Our two best WRs. Our best OL. Our best DL. Wondering if the spread will change to Utah's favor by game time.

Those guys opting out is the best thing for this team. The guys that will be there moving forward get all the reps in this game and move into spring ball with that much more experience.

Bovada has taken it off the board as of right now.

Several others have it down to -6 and one place shows 74% of the bets on Utah even before this.

I figured they would have had someone on the inside and already known who was opting out and who wasn't.

No doubt a loss. Possibly move Munford back to tackle, and Jones to guard? That might actually improve the run game.
Olave and Garrett are definitely losses. But as long as they informed Day early (say, a week or so after the game that never happened) then the very talented kids behind them will have had a month with first team reps and hopefully will be up to the challenge.
As fans, we don't see anyone to step up to take Garrett's place. But there are always things we don't know. On the first play from scrimmage in The Game, 2005 Edition, Bobby Carpenter broke his leg and some freshman most people had never heard of had to come off the bench. Those who had heard of him knew he had potential, but no experience. James Laurinaitis equipped himself well that day, and also in the Fiesta Bowl. Who is to say we don't have young guys who are ready now.
GO BUCKS!
