2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar

A draw with Iran would put them at 4. I think our options to get through are 1. Get to 5 points (Tie England & Beat Iran or Beat England & Tie Iran) 2. Beat Iran, lose to England & avoid losing a tiebreaker on goal differential to Wales if they beat England

Yeah, its to the point where losing by one to England isn't too bad of a result. Especially if its something like 3-2. That leaves the US GD at -1, and it will have to be at least 0 (because we're going to have to beat Iran either way), so if my feeble math works, Wales would then have to beat England by 3. The only thing that helps us in a tie, especially not a 0-0 other than staying at 0 GD, is England probably won't sit around and count on us to beat Iran to win the group.

That said, we could just go ahead and dos a cero them and I'd be perfectly happy.

I think Wales beating England would be one of the biggest upsets, and I would think given their history they'd very much enjoy putting Wales out for good.

It doesn't seem todays result has too much impact, any points would be massive but a loss still puts them in a likely win or go home situation with Iran and if you can't win a single game in your group, let alone against Iran, you certainly don't deserve to advance.

I might be missing something though, but the whole 'win or go home' game 3 seems to be well set regardless unless a large shocker occurs with Wales over England.
