I’m really starting to like this klatt guy. 100% correct on everything.

The jokes about the number of times he was hit in the head at CU are just that… he concisely makes his points and does so in an unbiased way. Those of you who are not fans of Joel really should consider giving this a watch. He’s just about as fair and balanced as anyone going.

I’d say the same for Zach Smith, at the risk of having marital aids being thrown at me… once you get by the surface ‘character’ he’s either playing (or not) there is a lot of substance. He’s as big of a tOSU homer as any of us, but completely capable of being critical (as some of us are) while backing it up. And Drew, his side kick, is by all rights a solid dude.

Agreed on ZS. I've been really enjoying his podcast this year. You're absolutely right that the 'character(?)' is a bit obnoxious but he really does dial into the technical analysis and actually watches film before he spouts off on topics. Biggest downside to the Menace 2 Sports style is it's very much a younger generation presentation and I often feel like I'm watching my son and his friends discuss football. Just makes me feel old since much of the slang and lingo is over my head

And last year tOSU offense "wowed", but OUR D sucked. But was still in consideration until the debacle at Xichigan. After that, no bueno. IMHO, Texas is getting ink because well, it's Texas. Good football history, only not so much in the last decade. However, Texas insists on getting great recruits, but not getting the results on the field.....much like Texas A&M these days. (anyone see a pattern here?). Both Texas teams spend a ton of money (maybe aTm leads the league in NIL $). Only no results. Doubt any team will be considered for the 'gridiron final four' unless they win their conference, but only if named SEC or B10. Go Bucks - win out, and relegate Xichigan to only beating tOSU thrice in the 21st century!

Same

like the analysis

I’d like it more if he were more professional

I actually withheld judgement on his analysis for a long time because I don’t consider myself much of a judge on some things, but I kept watching for two reasons. 1) His analysis made logical sense, and 2) He made predictions based on that analysis that would be proven right or wrong. He stuck his neck out.

I don’t remember all of the predictions, but I do remember that they were all turned out to be right. The best example is Tennessee. People here were scoffing very confidently at anyone who suggested that Tennessee would be anything other than the joke they’ve been for the last 20 years. I remember thinking, “How do you KNOW?”, and “How can you be so sure?”. But I didn’t say anything because I had no reason to confidently believe anything one way or another. Zach very confidently asserted, before the season even started mind you, that Tennessee was good enough to be a legitimate threat to Alabama when they visited Knoxville and that Hooker was a potential Heisman candidate. His power rankings had Tennessee higher than anyone else’s that I remember seeing.

Whatever else you can say of the man, the simple fact is that he knows what he’s talking about

Which begs the question, why don't more people that actually know the sport take this approach? If someone with equal/better knowledge created a slightly more professional show that shit would blow up.

There is an article on the front page that has, IMHO, a part of the answer to this. Below is a shorthand version of it.

Those who know football well enough to be good coaches tend to coach football until:
  1. No one will pay them to do it anymore, or
  2. People pay them to NOT do it anymore
The practical upshot of this is that most people who know the sport well enough to do good analysis are still in coaching, regardless of age. Most people with baggage will take a job below what they're otherwise qualified for (Kevin Wilson) rather than quit the profession. If there's enough baggage, or if they can't handle the pressure of coaching, they end up as one of the few good analysts. Of those few good analysts, those who are sufficiently professional (a VERY small number) end up at big outfits like Fox or ESPN that have a very dim view of the average fan's intelligence and thus force them to dumb down their analysis.

And both Texas schools are run by donors who ‘know better” than the people they hire. Oh, and it’s not limited to sports.

Funny B1G Today talking heads suggesting that Clemson's ranking was sending a message to Michigan about the absolute shit schedule of their first three games. Uh, then how does Clemson get credit for winning against Ga Tech, Furman, and La Tech? I fail to see a difference.

Can't hold GaTech against them. It's P5 and was an early season conference game.

His face is too punchable to be such a prick. That and it's hard to get past his personal life. I know, I know, it has nothing to do with the analysis but domestic violence is a hot button.

Yea not to defend Clemson by any means, but they still have Notre Dame and South Carolina on their OOC schedule, they just haven't played them yet. Neither of those are great by any means but they are great compared to what scUM faced.

Also I don't think scUM would "easily" beat Clemson like DFBIA wants to claim. scUM is the kind of team that plays a style that Clemson could very well beat. Not saying Clemson would for sure beat them either, but its more of a 50/50 type game than some want to believe

It would be OSU, Bama, Uga, Tennessee. You can’t leave out a 11-1 team that beat the sec champion.
