2022 College Football Polls

They are pretty much blatantly ignoring LSUs loss to Florida State. Circling back to the "first loss doesn't really count for SEC teams" logic that we see every year.

More like, "A loss to any OOC team is because the SEC season is SOOOOOOOO difficult that teams don't get ready for them, more like a scrimmage game. Just trying to work out some kinks, find out who should start, low intensity, low impact. Most of the guys weren't really trying. Those games should never be on TV or written up by the media because they don't matter."

Georgia winning out is really the best case scenario for possibly not having 2 SEC teams in.

I think Georgia is getting in with 1 loss, whether that be to Tennessee or to whoever in the SEC title game.

Tennessee IMO is not going to be afforded the same benefit of the doubt treatment that Bama and UGA have gotten.
Watch the klatt video and you may change your tune.

I don’t care if it’s Georgia or Tennessee, whoever wins that game needs to win out. Tennessee would actually be better because the Bama win is the best win the the country. Georgia can’t match that win. Oregon would be their only ranked win as a 1 loss team. Need to see Oregon get it handed to them so let’s see Utah and Washington get after them.

It’s not about keeping the sec from getting 2 teams, it’s now about keeping them from getting 3. If Bama wins the sec championship and they have a great shot and Clemson drops a game (50/50), I actually can’t see how they don’t get 3 in.

It's been that way since the first AP and Coaches polls were created, and they handed out "national championships" for decades based solely on them.

I'm glad they're going to expand the playoff. The more the title can be decided on the field, and not in a conference room, the better.
Except that in those days the balance of power was in the East and Midwest with bigger populations, more media outlets, more newspapers. The East still has that benefit, but a small college sports fan base nullifies the potential. Half the Midwest has moved south or to either coast. ESPN knows that.

"We're looking for a balanced team, offense and defense, and [TCU] has gotten behind in some games," CFP selection committee chair Boo Corrigan said. "They've been able to come back and win those games. But when you look at Alabama -- in the wins against Mississippi State, at Arkansas, at Texas and obviously the three-point loss at Tennessee -- as a committee, we decided to go Alabama No. 6 and TCU No. 7."

 Alabama got injury luck to beat Texas and had to hold off Arkansas with a 21 point 4th quarter run. Also all those teams have 3 losses.

I love how they say "balanced team matters!"

Tennessee's defense is horrible, but of course that goes ignored. They had no problem putting them #1

Their "criteria" is ever changing bullshit that is just molded to favor the teams they like and penalize teams they really don't want in (like TCU)

They should just flat out come out and say that losses count for less for SEC teams, if they even count at all. Because we all know that's the truth.

Texas is another funny one.

There is no reason they should be in the top 25, besides to prop Bama up a little more, which of course is why they are there

They have zero quality wins and a loss to a 4-4 Texas Tech team

there are PLENTY of other 2 or 3 loss teams they coulda put there instead of them.

Yeah, you’ve got tons of quality 5-3 teams. Kentucky, South Carolina, Arkansas, and miss st.

Am amused by all this furor. The initial poll is just that. Each and every year, teams either rise to the occasion, or they crash against the shore and recede. Seems to work out each and every year, as espoused. Back half of everyone's schedule is 'heavy' in terms of better teams, that all have been honing their team/game for a clubhouse run. And that's where the SEC, ACC, B10, Pac10 will sort themselves out. We will see the impact as Ga puts it on the line against Tenn, or vice versa, and how far the loser falls. As a wise man said, "it's best to lose early to a good team than later in the season". We will see that when Xichigan tees it up against tOSU....one goes on, one goes home. (note: in rereading this missive, note an abundance of metaphors/homilies - sorry about that). It's always where you finish, not start. Go Bucks!

Maryland and Washington both have 2 losses and are unranked.

Coastal Carolina has 1 loss

Florida State's 3 losses are all to ranked teams and they have that LSU win

Texas should pretty much be last in line of the 3 loss teams. And behind those 2 2 loss teams and Coastal Carolina even.

They should really just rank 15 teams for the CFP poll.

16-25 is just a mess of mediocrity that is only used to pimp up the teams they want to pimp up.

Not sure how big of a hurdle Louisville will be

They've been better of late, but with that game being @ Clemson, these ACC teams tend to piss down their leg there

Notre Dame is probably the best hope for a Clemson L.

North Carolina will be their ACC title game opponent barring disaster, they are about the worst 7-1 team you will ever see. Notre Dame beat them fairly easily on their home field. They have a 2 point win over App State (5-3 Sun Belt), a 7 point win over Georgia State (3-5 Sun Belt) and 3 point wins over Miami (4-4) and Duke (5-3)

I’m trying to figure out why you didn’t also mention the 3-5 aTm team that needed 2 yards on the final play to beat Bama.
