Wasn’t there some foreshadowing to that being expected? IIRC he and the Head Case had some issues with each other mid season.

Yea I think there was some smoke about it, and then it kind of went quiet. I'd be shocked if he's on the roster come spring though.

That would leave scUM with McNamara, a true freshman McCarthy (probably would be best for him not to get tossed into the fire right away this season, well best for him and scUM at least, lol.) and 2* Northeast Hero Dan Villari.

Not exactly a GURU type situation for Harbaugh.

A true, career defining coaching opportunity awaits him.

The funny thing is. DFBIA seems to think our QB situation this year (losing Fields) gives them some kind of upper hand in the game. I mean maybe if you ignore the fact that their whole roster is kind of a mess and the fact that our QB situation is still quite a bit better than theirs.

Their olines have been pretty average for the most part (if not below average at times) They can get it done against lesser talent but its a different story against the higher caliber teams.

DFBIA seems to think it is a "strong point" of the team though, for whatever reason. It seems like some weird fantasy that Warriner is automatically a complete stud because he came from Ohio State
Well, that'd be on brand, for sure.

I don’t know if these are terrible hires, but you would think a head coach who just took a 50% pay cut in order to pay assistants more money would have at least hired a coordinator who has actually coordinated a defense before.

Someone makes a fairly good point for DFBIA but immediately gets corrected by the Harbaugh ministry of propaganda

Brian Jean-Mary has coordinated a defense before and will be in the room with the two others who have extensive background at elite defensive teams. The defense will be fine.

Once again confusing "he was once a DC" with being a sure "good" thing. Jean-Mary's last 2 USF defenses he coordinated were not good. Ranking 74th in yards allowed in 2019 and 104th in yards allowed in 2018.

An in-depth analysis of Baltimore’s defensive schemes and how Michigan players might fit in.

Do... do they think they hired Baltimore’s defensive coordinator and not a position coach with three years of experience?

From reading that thread that seems to be what they think................

Assuming there is some "well he was there watching so we are liable to get the same results" logic at play.

scUM running a 3-4 and nickel heavy defense with their current personnel would be pretty hilarious to watch though. Well considering their lack of depth and talent in the secondary and dline pretty much any defense they try to run is going to be comical.

While I realize this is way over-simplified, the basic premise of a 3-4 defense is having 3 big, strong DLinemen - its crucial for all 3 to be, but particularly at NT - who can occupy a lot of space, as well as all 5 of the OLinemen. This frees up the LBs to run free and make plays - having 4 LBS who are disciplined, can run, and are sure tacklers is also required. If the Oline is allowed to get to the second level and put blocks on the LBs, even the best 3-4 defense can be gashed by a poor-to-average RB.

Knowing this, and knowing what the current talent level is at ttun, I would say that switching to a 3-4 would be a tremendous idea!
