Simple Jim's MO has always been to catch lightening in a bottle for a year or two (often with a gimmick), but he inevitably falls on his face and can't sustain it. He lucked into Andrew Luck at Stanford and then bolted for the NFL before he actually had to build a program. He lucked into Kaepernick and the pistol before NFL defenses were ready for it and rode that for all of 2 years before it began to crumble, and he bolted for tsun.

Now he installed his gimmick old school offense, found 2 top 10 pick edge rushers and it all came together in the year that Ohio State's defensive decline came to a head. Those DL are gone and Ryan Day just hit a home run hire as DC.

There is nothing in Simple Jim's history that says this success is anything but a transitory aberration before Simple Jim loses his baseball again.

Exactly what I've been thinking now that I'm seeing things more clearly after that L we took.

We obviously had our own issues that needed urgent correcting but I honestly believe this past season was an anomaly (on their end) more than anything.

And let's not forget that Simple Jim didn't go out and find that new DC. Big brother gifted him, and I really don't see him sticking around Simple Jim's shitshow for very long before heading back to the league.

The offense is going to be much tougher for them to find constant success next year now that everyone knows exactly what is coming and what to prepare for. They did absolutely nothing this year to make anyone fear their QBs or WRs. Now that there's a year of what they were doing on film, its gonna be much tougher sledding.

Haskins and at least 2 of the OL being gone are bigger losses than DFBIA will admit. Corum and Edwards are nice change of pace speedsters/receiving backs, but can either handle the workhorse load? Stueber was 1st team all BIG on the line and Vastardis was a anchor for them at center, they will be very tough to replace. If Hayes decides not to take a extra year they are really screwed.

Gattis is now being mentioned as one to watch for the Virginia HC vacancy.

Honestly though how big of a loss would this really be? "Speed in space" had absofucking nothing to do with their success this year. It's not like hes raking in highly rated skill position recruits either.

I never thought that Ohio State would win 43 in a row, like Notre Dame did in their "rivalry" with Navy. scUM got their once a decade win, next year it's back to normal.

I'm 50/50 on this. On one hand, coach turnover is hard to deal with. On the other, I want to beat that punk ass next year.

That they would go from zero to insufferable douchebags with the least little bit of success is the least surprising thing in college football. And it's this preening sense of superiority and entitlement that will lead to their quick downfall. DC's will figure out how to scheme and play call against Simple Jim's 1960 offense, and we'll see how well their defense plays when they're on the field for forty minutes every game.

Simple Jim's triumph of finding his baseball will quickly turn into this.

All of this is why I laugh at their confidence and bravado after 1 win. It’s like they don’t realize that all they’re doing is poking the bear.

Thing is, the offense wasn’t even a gimmick. It was just Hairball being stubborn and sticking with his brand of football, when many in CFB have gone the spread route. He found his year on us, and saw how soft our lines were. Kudos to him on getting up early. Because like many have stated, the OSU offense was their best defense. If we would’ve went up by 2TDs then this game would’ve been essentially over. They didn’t have the offense to play from behind.
But I hope they keep this same energy all year. Keep up with the clever tweets back, and make some clever t shirts, create some nice hashtags because for an entire year you have the Buckeyes watching you like never before. This ‘21 team dropped the ball and will be known as the first team to take an L to TTUN in 10 years. So please believe that every former Buckeye that was apart of that streak will be reminding them until The Game ‘22
