Patting Harbaugh on the back for finally molding a entire recruiting department like every other major college football program

Plenty of the usual suggesting "real changes in recruiting" even though the actual results say otherwise.

DFBIA gonna DFBIA.
Yeah, there's something about this thread that puts a smile on your face and a spring in your step, even on those gloomiest of days.

William Mohan apparently has landed at Tennecheat.

On Thursday, we learned the fate of one of the Wolverines’ younger players, as former Brooklyn (NY) Erasmus Hall three-star William Mohan — who was supposed to be a VIPER in Ann Arbor — shared that he has committed to Tennessee, joining former Michigan QB Joe Milton as well as once upon a time defensive tackle Aubrey Solomon.

Tennecheat = scUM South

I mean, its a fun conversation I guess. Its also interesting to look at these and think that JH could be way higher if it wasn't for a few bad breaks. I know good coaches overcome, but: a spot, a dropped INT, missed tackle, hit an open receiver.... If one or more of those simple things go his way, who knows?

scUM is the only team thats ever gotten some "bad breaks"

You might be right but there are fewer than 10 of those guys, and maybe fewer than 5, I'd rather have instead of Harbaugh.

There are not 22 coaches I'd rather have instead of Harbaugh.

The "THERE ARENT THAT MANY WED RATHER HAVE" crowd

And some odd whataboutisms about Day

Day, Riley, and even Swinney are all probably really good coaches who could win anywhere, but it's hard to confirm since they've only been assistants and head coaches at once school, where they took over pretty well-running operations (more Riley and Day, since Swinney did build Clemson up himself).

I'd be curious to see how Day handles going into a new gig and having to build a program from the ground up. As the OP said, he was essentially handed the keys to a Ferrari and tasked solely with not crashing it into a wall. Which to his credit, he's done the exact opposite of. But all the talent, the schemes, the resources, the culture, all of that was already in place when he was given the keys to the kingdom. He didn't have to build any of it himself. He's just kept it going.

The evidence so far seems to suggest he's a great coach in his own right. I'm not saying he definitely isn't. I'm just curious how he'd do if he walked into a genuine rebuilding project. Would he have that team where OSU is now, within three to five years?

This one is the best of that bunch

I think the next year or two will actually be pretty defining for him. He had the luxury of coaching Justin Fields, probably the best OSU QB prospect ever and one of the best QB prospects of all time. He has talent in the room but no one near the talent level of Fields. Running back room is a big question mark and the defense regressed when he lost two other transcendent talents in Chase Young and Jeff Okudah.

If he blasts through the BIG 10 and does well in the playoffs with a Freshman QB with no experience, a running back room with no clear leader (not because they are all so good) and a defense that is lacking a well established star (no Young, Okudah, or Wade level returner), then I will give him his due.

That 2019 OSU team was absolutely stacked and if it was coached by Urban, I think they would have won the championship over LSU. Think about all the star players they had. Fields, Dobbins, Olave, Young, Okudah, Wade. They won't have anywhere near that talent until maybe 2023 when Ewers, Henderson, and all those 5* receivers are running the show.

Yes you heard it from azee2890 from MgoBlow, Ohio State will have to wait until "Maybe 2023" to have top tier talent again

The best part is our 5* receivers in 2023 are not yet on the team as our current 5* receivers will have entered the league before then. You know, because we develop talent and 5*s go to the league in 3 years.

I've said for a long time that one of, if not the biggest differences between our two programs is standards.

I think they know deep down that Jimmah and his 8 win maybe a 10 win season here and there (likely when the rest of the conference is having a down time) where they get clobbered in a somewhat major bowl game ceiling is what that program is at this point in time and going forward.

scUM missed the mark at branding themselves as relevant at the highest level for this generation of college football.

They are a fringe top 20 program at best and not much of a real national title threat. Their ceiling in a good year is a just inside the top 10 finish. They are much closer to no longer being a annual top 25 team (hell Harbaugh already has 2 years he didnt finish in the top 25) than they are being near Bama/Clemson/Ohio State

DFBIA acts like Ohio State has never had to reload before. Hilarious.

Since Meyer took over, Ohio State has a record of 106-11 (.906 win pct), with the worst season being 11-2 (.846 win pct). Ohio State has had 69 draft picks (average of 7.7 per year) during that time with 18 first rounders (2.0 per year) and 13 second rounders.

Ohio State has brought in top-5 recruiting classes every year except the Class of 2015 (#7, but still produced 3 first rounders) and the Class of 2019 (#14, with only 17 signees).

Ohio State will continue to have top-tier talent and a .900 winning percentage for the foreseeable future.

Them acting like our RB room is bare is pretty classic.

While they for whatever reason think they are "loaded" at RB

Master Teague may not be a superstar but has at least been serviceable averaging 5.4 YPC in 256 carries over 2 seasons + COVID season. Him and their "Main guy" Hassan Haskins are probably interchangeable.

Then you get

Treyvon Henderson the #1 RB recruit in the 2021 Class
Evan Pryor the #2 All Purpose Back in the 2021 Class
Miyan Williams low rated but appears may be able to claw out a niche as a power bruiser back
Plus you still have Crowley and Chambers who were both 4* in their own right

Not to mention the Oline they will be running behind helps any RB

scUMs RB room consists of basically 3 players.

Hassan Haskins. Who looks decent in a smallish sample size. Can he carry the entire load though?
Blake Corum who did not look good at all to say the least in his COVID shortened debut season
Donovan Edwards - Highly touted RB recruit who seems did not move enough ground to move past the 2 above during spring.

Running behind a "bleh" offensive line

Only DFBIA could look at the bottom situation and say "Oh yea we are much better off there"

Better start getting your dues ready my man.

If they paid even the slightest bit of attention to the OSU roster and recruiting before opening their mouths they might save themselves some of the pain but then again, DFBIA is gonna DFBIA.
