Rule from Peewee level on up for Defensive players: "Dont ever let a guy cross your face. Drill them, go with them or be the anchor and force them the other way." No one gets outside you unless you are on a stunt inside. No one gets deeper than you as a DB.

LBs: <Spielman>"See ball. Get ball".<Spielman> They try to make this shit so difficult when the game has never really changed and probably never will.

It was pretty good except for Kirk and the "40 times" for Eichenberg and whomever else. 4.5 and 5.0 are a half second Kirk, just like you said. Over 40 yards, not from Gap C to Gap A or from Mike to the TE. Downfield it might matter but it isnt 40 time that makes a huge difference inside the box during a game.

I'm glad someone mentioned the fronts. Because that first IZ Oregon ran the Bucks had a 5 &7 tech to the boundary with Haskell playing shade. It just invites the nature crease back inside to the L-A gap.

Just a big head scratcher for me.

Not sure if people caught wind of this from Nevada on the scoop, and I have to believe this is an extreme over-dramatization, but like...holy hell this would be worse than awful:

IF…IF…this is true, the locker room is lost and this season is proper fucked. Players are smart. They know when they are being mismanaged. Coombs won’t survive the season at this rate.

Obviously this information is very hit or miss but I have to say it kind of makes sense. To get this sort of response from Ryan Day it had to be really bad in house.

Also anyone ever notice how many players talked about how Barnes had attention to detail and knew his stuff when asked differences between he and Coombs?

Like pigs to a trough…The “scoop” is all about feeding the slop Buckeye fans crave. Right now people want all the scathing details to validate even more anger. They know how to feed into the good/bad but just a heads up…it’s all a BS grift.

I am leaning towards it being untrue, but I also do believe there is some degree of truth behind it...my thought on the defense, as bad as everything turned out, was that the lack of pass rush was easily the most disappointing aspect. The men on this defensive line are just too talented to be unable to generate any pass rush to this awful of an extent. This "scoop" may be radically hyperbolic, but it would explain the ineffectiveness of every single pass rusher who stepped foot on the field of play. Either way, even if none of this possesses even an ounce of truth, I so badly want to believe that the sense of urgency to take action against the current state of this defense is at an all time high.

Demote Parker Fleming back to QC/Videographer with the promise this is a stopgap fix for 2021 only and he will be accommodated, give special teams back to Matt Barnes, and elevate Paul Rhodes to DC in the press box making the calls. Re-evaluate all coaching roles in January 2022. You can’t change the scheme two weeks into the season, but you can demand your DC is in the press box and has an all-22 view of the defense. If Coombs won’t go to the press box, override him with the experienced DC already on the payroll.

Seems the biggest problem is we’re copying Pete Carroll’s Legion of Boom defense without a Kam Chancellor, Richard Sherman, or Earl Thomas on the roster. There’s a reason why, since all those guys left, Seattle has largely played a Cover 2 zone the last couple of years.

Basically my feeling too, however, I screamed at the tv more than once that a man was heading to the Qb and just stopped. Absolutely WTF situations when I saw them. Of course every lie has roots in truth so damn
