I haven't seen that many coaches that were terrible at scheme but were incredible position coaches. The scheme can make a good player look like he isn't. We have seen it time and time again. Yet I am seeing the players taking blame again for lack of talent. Well I am calling BS like usual. The scheme can make damn near anyone look like they can't play. The scheme is SHIT! The preparation is worse. You either understand X's and O's or you don't. When you don't, which is obviously the case here, then you cannot prepare a defense either.

When you know X's and O's, you have a good idea how the other team is going to attack you, you understand your strengths and more importantly your weaknesses. It is obvious we are not prepared on defense and have been pantsed more than once now. Coombs has no clue when his dick is in the wind and he is being pants. AGAIN!

The only thing about the 11W film deductions that I dont agree with is the "why" for some of the execution mistakes. Example, Eichenberg vacating the middle of the field on the long TD run. Obviously a terrible read by the LBs but what isnt answered is why the fuck we are still expecting the MLB to be out in coverage one on one? I got more than enough of that against Bama and others last year. If that's not what he's supposed to be doing, then what is Washington teaching them or yet, why is he on the field if he's not doing his assignments. Too many "whys" not answered and they should be, at least in concept if not detail.

Was listening to Letterman Row today... Berm said while at the Minneapolis Airport waiting to board his plane he was at a restaurant and ran into a Gopher assistant. I guess they got talking to the Gopher assistant told Berm that they thought OSU would be different this year but they ran the same stuff they ran in the Alabama final. That's just....neglect? Best word I can come up with.

Kerry did state that Barnes was the tactician and not him. Like you point out if you're not an x and o nerd how are you to know what to do when bring hurt with specific concepts or designs? At a minimum you'd be too slow to counter.

Overall there's just so much wrong right now. Unfortunately this probably doesn't really get fixed until the off season. My only hope is that Day allows for more variety other than cover 1 or 3.

Tommy was doing his job. The problem is, everyone knows Tommy's job. Hence, it is like taking candy from a baby. Tommy isn't going to cover a back out of the backfield on a wheel route successfully anyway, but it is his job. Or you can do like the Gophers did, on 3rd and 8, line up a WR in the backfield with trips to the wide side, plus a TE that is covered. Send the RB/WR in motion and he got single coverage from Mitchel. It was embarrassing. Absolutely embarrassing.

The offenses know Tommy is going to vacate. They know he has to run with his man. It is another reason the scheme is shit against the run. Guys have their eyes on their man instead of the ball half the time. It is a joke. I can't understand why Day hasn't shit canned him already. It isn't like we didn't see this coming. I said it last year and a lot of guys wanted to "Wait and see" and argued that Covid was the culprit. That was bullshit. Covid has zero to do with putting LB's on receivers in the slot creating enormous mismatches where our guys are set up to fail.

The Alabama game is the first time I have ever turned off a Buckeye game before it was over and it's because of all this right here. Disgusting

They made Zero changes after Alabama because why? Day promises a closer look at what we are doing. Good. We probably can get by if the DL steps up. I’m still haunted by Olave’s reaction to the D on Saturday…he knows, Day should know. Don’t leave Combs in the dark.

I never bought the covid excuse either or lack of practice. That didn't bother the other schools. All 124 that finished better than us vs the pass.

The underrated aspect of the Coombs as Defensive Coordinator situation is that the DBs have looked considerably worse as he's assumed more responsibility. The one thing he's supposed to be good at is falling apart because he's being asked to do stuff he has little idea of how to do.

DBs have been a bright spot this year IMO.
