2021 Fall Camp and Other Tidbits

Correct, we are at 83 (counting Palaie Gaoteote). See this thread:

https://buckeyeplanet.com/forum/threads/scholarship-breakdown-by-class.627376/page-18
I have us at 87. The chart you are referencing from this thread is not the one I have been maintaining in that same thread, which is here:

https://sites.google.com/site/scholarshipbreakdown/home

The problem with the other chart is that while the numbers at the bottom add up to 83 the number for seniors is incorrect. The chart says 11 but there are 16 names in that column.

That would take us to 88, but Jacoby is on the chart so that puts us back at 87.

***I missed the note on super seniors. Sorry if my attempt to clarify simply muddied the waters.***

The difference in the senior class numbers (16 vs 11) is due to the 5 ‘Super Seniors’ (SS) on the chart that don’t count against the 85 limit due to the extra year given because of Covid.

I’m not sure how the extra year affects the other classes, but if there end up being 50-something freshmen in terms of eligibility, that could be tricky to deal with in another year or two.

That would put us at 82 without the super seniors.

My concern all along has been the out-years with this COVID exemption. We have 56 players with Frosh eligibility. I haven't heard anything about expanded limits beyond 2021.

  • Day says the Buckeyes are not changing philosophically as far as the safety position goes this season.
  • Marcus Hooker made a "really bad mistake," and has a zero-tolerance policy moving forward after this offseason's OVI arrest.
  • Day says the depth at safety is "much further along" than past years.
  • Ryan Batsch could make the travel team and play on special teams this season.
  • "He's a different player with 15 extra pounds," Day said about senior safety Josh Proctor.
  • Matt Jones is "in the mix" on the offensive line, but Day said the Buckeyes are "pretty close" to being settled with their starting five up front.
  • Day says the trip to Canton last week was a "great change of pace" during camp.
  • On special teams, Day said the Buckeyes feel "really good" about punter Jesse Mirco, but wish Noah Ruggles and Jake Seibert were more consistent kicking field goals.
  • Players who are not vaccinated have to get tested twice a week by the university. Day said there are only about 10 Buckeyes who are not.
  • Day said Teradja Mitchell is one linebacker that he is sure will play a lot this season for Ohio State.
  • Ohio State is still waiting to hear from the NCAA about Palaie Gaoteote's eligibility situation.
  • Day says he would be nervous if the Minnesota game was tomorrow, but thinks Ohio State has a chance to be a really good team this season.

I don't follow. Did he post something to social media that stated he refuses the vaccine?
I don’t think so. But knowing what I know of his father and family, I don’t think they are happy about this. A good friend of mine played with Corey at MTSU and have remained close.

But some things could change people’s opinions. Maybe the FDA approval is one of those. Idk

I wonder if Master Teague stays with the team now?

He didn't post anything, but if you take a gander at his pops' twitter page... I'll just say he's not a fan of the vaccine. So this could be interesting going forward
