2021 CFB Playoff Discussion

Going undefeated is truly an accomplishment and usually lead to a National Championship, not counting UCF in 2017.....

Not counting The Little Sisters of the Poor and the Utes* (who wasn't a P5 team then), Ohio State and Alabama are the only teams to do it twice since 2000.

Having to beat both Alabama and either Georgia/scUM, I seriously doubt that the Juggalos will go undefeated this season.

* Kyle Whittingham might be one of the most under rated coaches in college football.

Choice 1: Much like current system - First, nationalize college refereeing like the NFL, stipulate the need to win the CCG to qualify - retains the importance of regular season games, retains CCGs, eliminates 2 teams from any one conference from qualifying, pretty much leaves the bowl system in tact which favors teams and fans from the South and West.
Choice 2: 8 teams - first, nationalize college refereeing like the NFL, eliminates CCGs, must include team with best record in each conference + 3 at large teams, eliminate CCGs or use CCGs as the first round, keeps the importance of regular season games, gives a potential opening to Gang of Five teams, lessens potential of ooc games with two capable teams, more giants playing MAC and cheese games,
Choice 3: First, nationalize college refereeing like the NFL, 16 teams, eliminates CCGs, you lost three games? no problemo - you can still get in, lot's of bull shit games both during the season and once the playoffs start, creates an opportunity to break the bowl system, shrinks regular season to 10 games + 4 week tourney

My biggest problems with all of this? 1. The conferences refuse to stand up to ND and their insistence upon remaining independent while demanding a seat at the table for all negotiations. 2. No one speaks for the athletes. No guarantee that games will be set in the North and East as well as the South and West.

Auburn also has 2 undefeated seasons.

I've been shouting this from a mountain top all weekend after the Pac 12 CG. I even suggested to Miami fans on one of their forums that they should go after him instead of the supremely overrated Cristobal. Got banned 60 seconds after posting it.

Whoever banned you, well, “The man ain’t got no culture,” obviously. We’ll see how well that ban ages. :groove:

In his defense, it might've been somewhat warranted  :
