2021 CFB Playoff Discussion

Why wouldn’t they put Iowa in the CFP with a convincing win over dUMb?

Good question.

As long as we're talking about two-loss teams possibly getting in, they'd be 11-2 with a win over TTUN and a B1G title. OSU would be 10-2 and lost to TTUN.

Seems like a lot of wishful thinking is taking place here.

Same as Baylor imo, money.

Maybe I'm just too much of a cynic but I don't think they are all of a sudden going to vault #13 Iowa up to 4 because they won the B1G title. They don't want to have a UGA, Iowa, UC, Baylor playoff.

I'm not wishful, I'm not even optimistic. I don't think the league title thing really matters to the CFP if it isn't the right team.

Just out of curiosity, if:

- Michigan wins
- Georgia wins big
- Cincy loses
- Oklahoma state loses
- Oregon loses

There's obviously only two teams with guaranteed spots, being Georgia and scUM

Who gets the last two spots between Baylor, Notre Dame, Bama, and us?

Id agree that this exact scenario is fairly unlikely but I think people are too easily dismissing the idea that we could fall backwards into the playoffs.

Again, I don't think we'd get picked, but I am curious as to how you guys think it would play out given the above stated circumstances. Frankly, I'm not even remotely sure how the committee would handle it.

I think ND is a 100% stone cold lock to move into the 3 spot in that scenario. As for the fourth spot, what happens in the ACC. I think a 2 loss P5 champ gets in over us. But at the end of the day, they'd find a way to rationalize Bama. In any event, our odds are so slim, there's no way they justify rooting for Simple Jim and tsun.

Here is what I want to happen given the hand we've been dealt:

1. Okie State to win the first game
2. Bama to beat UGA, ensuring 2 of the 4 spots are taken
3. UC to lose because fuck Juggalos. Okie State takes their spot.
4. tsun to lose because fuck them for all time. ND takes their spot.

UGA/Bama/OkSU/ND in whatever order

Guys it’s a pretty simple formula…and it includes Michigan winning.

OSU out if Michigan loses.

For the Hail Mary shot at CFP we want:

-Baylor to win creating 2 loss Big 13 champion. Big 12 MUCH weaker Conference than Big 10. CFP would rather have OSU fanbase and viewership for the $$$

-Cincy must lose. If Cincy loses they’re out. On top of Cincy losing it significantly weakens ND odds bc obviously ND lost to Cincy. It also creates a real issue for Committee as it’d look awful for putting ND in over a 1 loss that beat it……at ND mind you. That’s not gonna happen. There is a simple spike toon though. You bypass ND and Cincy’s terrible schedules and give OSU a shot.

-Georgia takes a wrecking ball to Bama. This is a recipe as well. If Georgia just destroys Bama, after Bama barely escaped beating a bad Auburn team (that should’ve won had they just stayed in bounds) I don’t see Bama in. Also, the Texas A&M loss ended up being much worse than anticipated the way A&M finished season. Bama’s resume isn’t what we’d normally think of a 1 loss SEC team. But Georgia has to crush them (I think this is possible by the way all the SEC is fantastic at pulling strings in game for best outcome of league). If Bama plays Georgia tight at all they’re going to be in.

-Lastly, and the great thing is we will know by 8pm, is if somehow everything plays out how we want during day, hold your breath bc I’m about to say it……We are huge UM fans. We want our SOS to trounce everyone, and the best way to accomplish that is for Michigan to win. If Michigan wins huge it only makes our case even better.

That said, if our options are off the table by 8pm, I hope Iowa wins by 97 points.

First step today would be Baylor taking Big 12 championship.

kiss your mother with that mouth?

and No. it just isn't possible.

The scenario is possible.
Me rooting for tsun is an absolute quad zero percent chance event.

I think it’d be nearly criminal to put a 1 loss ND in over a 1 loss Cincy when Cincy beat ND at ND.

I don’t know where they go for #4….maybe Iowa? Maybe 1 loss Cincy (I doubt it). I don’t think a 1 loss ND gets in over Cincy tho.

maybe they leave a 2 loss tsun in, who knows? I just want to see UC and tsun lose today. That will start to make me feel a little better.
