2020 Team Discussion Thread

I got much older today. Im pretty salty.

It's just disappointing that the administrators of the B1G seemed to barely put up a fight to have a season.

You hear them say "Our priority is the health and safety of our student-athletes." OK. That's good. But I have a question: Do you know for certain that football players are safer by not playing football? If the answer is yes, then they made the right decision, but I dont think they have any idea.

If players have a season to play, their time is scheduled, they are motivated to remain healthy, they would be regularly tested, monitored by team doctors, etc.

Without football, I would assume that they will be, well, college students - partying and chasing tail.

Got a feeling this is about what is easiest for administrators in terms of PR and liability rather than what is best for student-athletes.

It's all about a handful of older, well-off people covering their asses at the expense of players, coaches, and fans.

Fear not, there isn't going to be Spring football...unless we actually get our Spring Game back.
I wonder if we would consider doing one this fall considering we will still be doing random shit as a team?
Just wonder what this roster will look like by the end of the week.

I'd expect serious attrition.
I wouldnt think transfers but certainly players like Wade/Fields/Meyer/Davis are gone.

At this point you have to hope the others close shop too.

This is heartbreaking. This is almost like losing a member of my family. For about 48 years this has been my passion, my love. No matter what happened in life, good or bad, I could always count on my Buckeyes. To have them taken away makes me want to fight, and to vomit. I guess I'll just have to take more enjoyment in life from my wife and kids, because the 4th most important thing in my life isn't coming back any time soon.:sad2:

Peace

IDK. Transferring right now still carries a huge risk. Imagine transfering to a ACC (or wherever) school and then them cancelling their season a week later (Youd be wise not to listen to any assuring that they are "definitely playing for sure" right now)............I dont think it will be as bad as some think.

Arent rosters basically set as well? The NCAA would be setting a pretty weird precedent to allow expanded rosters/scholarships for other conferences just to raid rosters of Big 10 and Pac 12 teams (and the G5 teams). Also that would pretty much assure that pretty much everyone besides the SEC/ACC/Big 12 would be completely handicapped for the foreseeable future. The logistics behind the whole thing are just too much. Especially factoring in the stated fact above that theres still plenty of time for the other conferences to shut it down as well. The situation is a lot more complicated than the knee jerk "everyone gonna transfer" reaction. Talk about a completely crap situation for the players of course. Everyone is basically walking a thing line here. College Sports as we know it are likely pretty much over.

The Fields/Wade types are definitely gone to the NFL of course. But yea.

Spring season is/was never happening. Thats just a false hope narrative. Just regroup for 2021 at this point. It is what it is.

No, see... players are gonna just run away from B1G and Pac schools now. In droves. And they'll go to teams that have full rosters, teams that have already made plans on how to use their personnel. And.. they'll transfer, arrive at the new location, and learn an entirely new playbook/defense in a handful of weeks, beat out the players who were already on the roster and who've had several years with the playbook/defense. All this will happen by the end of next week, of course.

I still think the ACC, Big12, and SEC will cancel their seasons eventually. I read an article regarding the SEC and their Commissioner didn't really sound very optimistic, he basically said they are waiting as long as possible to make all of their decisions and that is why they delayed their practices and delayed their season openers and they will continue to be patient and wait to make decisions. That is not exactly a resounding "we are playing" message.

This is true.

But if the SEC fights till the last minute they will be the conference that couldn't play football.

By bailing early we are branded as the conference that didn't want to play football.

I was ready to lose this season. I was not ready for what this will cost us.

Timing was everything. Warren has failed utterly.
