2019-2020 B1G Men's Basketball (Official Thread)

msu is very underwhelming so far. they miss goins and mcquaid's 9 three-point attempts, as well as mcquaid's stellar defense that connected their backcourt to the frontcourt. tough for winston to be winston if his teammates' offense isn't respected. moreover, msu misses the physicality that goins, mcquaid, and ward brought. tillman is solid, but he's no kaleb as msu's interior focus. i'm sure this team is too soft for izzo's liking. and on top of all of that, msu is very young. izzo has 11 players that he can go to in a contested game. of those 11, only 3 are upperclassmen. contrast that to last year when 5 of their top 7 players (even excepting langford) were upperclassmen.

given that it's izzo and given the youth, msu should be much better come march. we've seen this kind of start from msu before. nonetheless, their issues are stark and the conference appears ripe for the taking. as things stand right now, there is no reason to give osu any less of a chance than anyone else.

Not for UNC!!!

We could be ranked higher than UNC when we play them next week.

Hate to say it but scUM is definitely going to be contending for the B1G title.
It's almost as though Juwan Howard learned something in all those years coaching in the NBA. So much for the dingbats who said he didn't deserve the job (I might have been one of them).

It pains me to say it, but I enjoy watching Eli Brooks and his teammates play hoop. They'll be a tough matchup for our guys.

This year Howard has a huge leg up because Beilein built his team. 3 or 4 years from now is when we will see if Howard really knows what he is doing. And I still say he doesn't. He is lucky to follow a true B1G coaching legend that had a perennial top-25 program that got a 2 seed and made the Sweet 16 last season & a lot of those guys are back.

fortunately, ttun will lose simpson and teske to graduation. very good chance livers departs, too, if he continues playing as well as he has. we should see very quickly how much of this season is because of beilein and yaklich. it's kind of like osu 2017-18 with kbd, tate, and even williams. we learned the following year that the coaching carried over.
