2018 Week 14 CFB Open Thread

That ship has sailed. We are more likely to see the conferences break up and split away from the NCAA entirely than we are to see things go backwards.

8 is the right number. 4 is too restrictive with the conferences and whatnot.

8 means rivalry week becomes meaningless most years. Clemson and Bama could have rested their starters. Michigan would probably be in despite losing The Game. No thanks.

I am naive enough to think that the execs with hundreds of millions on the line are weighing the value of keeping the regular season must watch every week, which is why we are still going to be at four teams 30 years after they they first tried to make the bowl system something other than an exhibition.
No chance....they are playing with fire as it is with the group of 5 and class action lawsuits. The system absolutely is biased against the non-power 5 but they are classified equally as FBS teams.

The real solution is for the NCAA to reassert itself but that won't happen either. Again too much money involved. The CFP is going to go to 8 teams within the next 5 years.

Not necessarily. Even with 8 teams you still have to win your conference. I'd bet they also guarantee the highest ranked Group of 5 conference champion a spot within the CFP too. My guess is they would almost certainly require a conference championship to get the automatic berth.

If you think Ohio State/Michigan isn't going to mean anything you're being dramatic. What happened to the "I don't care if Ohio State goes 1-11 so long as that 1 is scUM"?
