Not the thread probably for this but we need our next hires to be made with the assumption that they may be the next head coach.

UFM won't be here another 5-10 years IMO so getting someone on staff to groom would be great.

When asked if he'll coach until 65 though UFM was quick to say No and to be honest his tone seemed sort of in disgust with even thinking of that possibility. He did then say "well who knows" to kind of soften the blow of the "Oh god no" response he gave originally but UFM doesn't strike me as a man who this means everything to like a Nick Saban or Bill Belichick. As honestly it shouldn't because after all it's a game and why work until you're 65+ when you can retire with ten's of millions early?

Coaches like Grinch are who we need right now... We know Wilson (who I'd actually be ok with assuming control from Meyer) and Schiano won't be here to take control. So getting these 30-40's up and coming coordinators are what we need right now because in 5 years we'll have options if UFM wants to move on.

I hope you're right Gov but even now I think we can all tell that UFM is already a little different then he was when he first got here. He really seems like he's figured out his past demons when it comes to managing his health, his family, how he approaches the games. In a way he's less serious then even when he got here and that's not a problem but I think it's a sign that the man know this won't go on forever and to enjoy the remaining few years doing what he loves.

12 years till he's 65. Don't think he'll coach into his 60s, but wouldn't be surprised if he's around for 5-6-7 more years. A little early to start thinking about getting is replacement on board. Everyone currently on staff will likely be gone by then or retiring with him.

Stoops did a masterful move in setting OU up for a long successful run with Riley, I'm hoping Day or Grinch can be that youby successor

I will make it a national holiday in my household when Saban retires... Not because he's unbeatable but because Saban gets the benefit of the doubt that not even we get. To go long with Saban's ability to position is team statistically for success (BYE week before Clemson, FCS before Auburn, and no road non conference).

Sadly I see Saban getting multiple more NC's before he's done... seriously he might win another 4 and it wouldn't surprise me.

I recall Darron Lee saying in an interview that he excitedly told his roommate around 2012/13 that he was going to be an OLB and was gonna blow up. Like he could just see his path. That ultimately happened and it made a huge impact on the NC run.

I look at the roster on defense and I see way more talent collectively than the NC run had. I just hope some of those guys have Darron's passion. There are opportunities aplenty for guys to step up on defense. Who has the stones to do it?
