2018 tOSU Defense Discussion

It would allow Fuller to go back to the field safety spot. He would be the one taking the angels now and we can all agree he's good at it.

Wade would be in man coverage which he's good at and not back deep taking angels

It plays to our strengths all the way around. Fuller plays center field which eliminates our angel issue and Wade plays man which he excels at.

So its not Wade replacing Pryor... it would be Fuller replacing Pryor.

I never implied Wade would be replacing Fuller. I said there's a reason why they move the more experienced safety to the spot Fuller is playing now. It requires a DUDE playing that position. Putting Wade in that spot would not solve the issues you're speaking of. It would just as likely create other issues.

It would also require Shaun Wade to play in the box...and yes...take angles to ball carriers and slot WRs catching the screen from a deep alignment just like Jordan does now at times. What has he shown that gives you so much confidence that he can do it?

It's been interesting to say the least watching the coaches stick somewhat to their philosophies despite the weaknesses in the units. I guess that's the best approach in hopes that by seasons end some folks will start stepping up, if not then the post season will be.................a crap shoot.

That is what is so sobering for me.

They had competition for that spot all spring, summer and fall.

During all that time Meyer kept saying safety was his #1 concern.

We see now what he was talking about and it clearly indicates no one else in that safety group is any better (or they would already be in there).

The LB's frustrate me.

The Safeties scare me.

I hear you. We're in October now and I wish it was figured out. That being said, we are super young at the position aside from Fuller and young DB's can grow leaps and bounds over the course of a year. We've seen it happen here several times. I have my fingers that at the end of November we look back and laugh that safety was such a concern.

The poor angels have not been from the safety in the box (Fuller) its been from the field safety spot.

Pryors position is the last line and that is the position that requires good angels.

Wade plays the nickle spot which is basically in the box anyways. So wouldn't be much different.

Also Wade has shown he will pop you.. so he's not some weakling
