2018 tOSU Defense Discussion

Me too... at this point I don't think we beat Purdue... but then we win out to win the big ten.

Im ok with that to be honest though... because I don't think this is a playoff team

Based on your track record for predictions in the past, I think this means OSU is going to run the table and win it all.

I’m excited now.

They look more like an obvious playoff team when you stop comparing them to past Buckeye teams and realize they'd be a better fit in the Big 12.

The only team that's looked consistently better than Ohio State is Alabama, who have played absolutely no one.
To be fair... I'd want no part of Clemson/Alabama/OU with the defense we have.

ND is a fraud... their best win will end up being a 3 loss Michigan team.

Alabama right now would eat corn flakes out of our skull.

Which I'm ok with... we are massively under producing on defense... but it's not going to change so I'm not going to get upset with it.

We have a GREAT team that IMO can win the big ten... anything else would be a cherry on top.

Alabama I agree with you and that's more out of respect for Saban as a coach. Their schedule has been dog shit but they've been pounding the hell out of teams.

Clemson? Eh. They've played no one and should've gotten beat by Syracuse for the second straight year.

Oklahoma? Nahhh they let an average Texas offense drop 48 on them.

Bama is the only team in the Top 10 I want no part of right now. Rest all have severe warts

Indiana will go to a bowl game at seasons end. After Pryor entered the game Indiana scoed 6 points for the half. His play keeps improving and is now showing promise of solidifying the secondary. There is still a long way to go for this mostly young team. But jeebus! They are making things exciting in games against better teams. Also, I noted that even when Wint took another bad angle he ran down the runner and made a tackle.

Fully agreed! Outside of Bama, OSU can take any team in the country. Bama is on top, there's a gap between them and OSU, and then after us, there's a MASSIVE gap between everyone else in CFB, IMO.

Thought Pryor came in a shored things up just fine in the 2nd half. Buckeye D gave up 6 second half points (!). Six points. And only 89 yards I think?

I'm not one to shy away from calling things out but I'm not sure yesterday was bad. First half was ugly (317 yards), but the Buckeye offense gave IU 2 turnovers (fumble- no points and Int- TD). Wint had another bad angle play. Werner has great pursuit but is a little light still. The 50/50 WR battles are tough- it's what the Buckeyes do and Indiana seems to have a knack of attacking and winning them, but CB's are there almost every time. It happens. IU goes super saiyan for this game, it didn't last.

Again, 2nd half with Pryor at safety, they gave up a TD after the Buckeye offense failed to get 4th and 1, and then a whole lot of nothing. Defensive Line started to win their battles and control the game.

Prisoner of the moment, the first half had everyone pissed off but let's step back as a whole and give some credit here- especially post-Pryor suspension.

The only thing that got on my nerves was the officiating. We got called for so much crap that wasn't being called the other way... whatever. If they don't steal Victor's reception, Haskins has his record.

LB play is undisciplined ... and I just can't see that changing b/c it seems like a coaching thing.
Pryor looked better. Okudah had some moments that show what he's capable of. Sheffield had some bad reads, but overall was alright. Arnette stepped up and played really well. Fuller is Fuller. I'm happy with where the secondary is headed minus Wint in the 1st half ... improvement is incremental but it's happening game to game.
And the DLine is just sick. Too bad we can't buy a holding call to keep OLines even a little honest.
