JT Barrett was 3-13 on balls that had to go further than 10 yards in the air.

I know there were some drops but I see the same old picture, i.e. everything the offense does is in a box 10 yards from the LOS. I think it's a combination of mediocre arm strength and poor timing. JT doesn't have the arm to be late on his throws and he often is.

Meh 2 were drops, 1 should have been a pass interference and 3 were throw away.

SNAP COUNTS: 59 BUCKEYES SEE PLAYING TIME IN OHIO STATE'S SEASON OPENER AT INDIANA

WIDE RECEIVERS

K.J. Hill: 58

Terry McLaurin: 49

Parris Campbell: 47

Binjimen Victor: 47

Austin Mack: 41

Johnnie Dixon: 39

C.J. Saunders: 7

Elijaah Goins: Special teams only

Ohio State wide receivers coach Zach Smith considers each of his top six receivers to be starters. That lack of delineation between the first- and second-team receivers on the depth chart held true on Thursday, as each of the Buckeyes’ top six receivers rotated in and out of the lineup and saw regular playing time.

Victor and Mack split snaps at X receiver, while McLaurin and Dixon split snaps at the Z position. Hill and Campbell split snaps in the slot but were also both on the field together in four-receiver sets. While Hill and Campbell are listed as H-backs on the Buckeyes’ depth chart, each of them only lined up in the backfield once. Saunders saw all of his snaps in the slot on the Buckeyes’ final possession.

To make this offense go we need KJ to step up and be a weapon. I hardly realized him out there on Thursday and I'm confident our young guys like Mack and Victor will come around eventually.

Terry is solid, Dixon looks to be healthy, and even with a few drops Campbell was great. However if Kj is going to get the most snaps out wide he has to do something

It appears the IU coach isn't impressed with Barrett's accuracy either.

Indiana coach Tom Allen was not concerned about Barrett's accuracy. In fact, he said the Hoosier defense dropped as many as eight players into coverage in the 2017 season opener against Ohio State because they identified Barrett as an inaccurate quarterback.

"I feel like, with a quarterback like that that’s not an accurate quarterback, that’s what you try to do. So I didn’t expect us to get a bunch of sacks on him because the way we approached it," Allen said after the loss. "And even the ones that they caught, they caught them underneath and outran us. It wasn’t like they just ran down the field on us.”

It's the Dantonio blue print. Make OSU show you they can be patient, keep everything in front of you and tackle well.

When the opponent has the right level of athletes on defense, our O will continue to struggle I feel. Deep passing was a point of emphasis all off season and they come out not looking any better at all.

Concerning imo.

I hope folks keep taking this approach because we will have all day to throw with the lack of pressure

that is what they are banking on

This isn't new, JT and the WRs simply have to get it together and produce a consistent, legitimate vertical threat

IF they can do that then Urban's offense is firing on all cylinders circa late 2014.

The pessimism on my part comes from seeing it talked so much about during the off season and then come out and lay an egg with it.

At this point I think there is logical cause for optimism that the WR's will improve due to their youth/inexperience. This is Barrett's 5th year. What you see is what you get.
