2017 College Football Playoffs (and Other Bowl Games)

#1 Clemson beat #7 Miami
#6 Georgia beat #2 Auburn
#3 Oklahoma beat #11 TCU
#8 Ohio State beat #4 Wisconsin
#10 USC beat #12 Stanford

That suggests to me the following:

#1 Georgia/Clemson
#2 Clemson/Georgia
#3 Oklahoma
#4 Ohio State

WTF did Alabama do to move into the top 4, besides sit on their couches and hope?

College Football Playoff Rankings prediction: Where will Oklahoma slot in?

Bowls expert Jerry Palm projects how the CFP Selection Committee will vote on Sunday

Clemson entered the week at No. 1, and after a 38-3 whipping of Miami, should stay on top. Oklahoma and Georgia are interchangeable and battling for uniform color in the Rose Bowl. The committee will have to grapple with Ohio State vs. Alabama and both teams have their merits. I leaned toward Ohio State because of the Buckeyes' two wins over top 10 teams. If it's Alabama, it will be because of Ohio State's ugly loss at Iowa.

  1. Clemson 12-1
  2. Oklahoma 12-1
  3. Georgia 12-1
  4. Ohio State 11-2
  5. Alabama 11-1
  6. Wisconsin 12-1
  7. Auburn 10-3
  8. USC 11-2
  9. Penn State 10-2
  10. Miami 10-2

Georgia is the best matchup for us. Our D can stop the run and their QB isn't overly impressive.

But UGA has no chance at being #1

The College Football Playoff Rankings Final Projection

5. Alabama (11-1)
LAST WEEK: 5

The committee sort of hinted that there wasn’t much difference between Alabama and Ohio State in last week’s rankings. Now it’ll be a fight to overcome the idea that the Buckeyes have a much, much better resume and a conference championship.

4. Ohio State (11-2)
LAST WEEK: 8
They did it. And now comes the resume argument. The Iowa loss is a brutal drag, but the Buckeyes beat the unbeaten Badgers, have a win over Penn State, and a win over Michigan State. All three are better than what Alabama has done. And there’s that conference championship trophy that the Crimson Tide don’t have.

3. Georgia (12-1)
LAST WEEK: 6
The only question now will be the seeding. Will the committee like the dominant win over the No. 2 team in the country enough to boost the Bulldogs up to No. 1? The committee would LOVE to put Georgia in the Sugar Bowl, but it just might not work out that way. However, one win in Pasadena, and the Dawgs are in Atlanta for the national title.

2. Oklahoma (12-1)
LAST WEEK: 3
Are the Sooners No. 1 or No. 2? It doesn’t matter all that much – unless Alabama gets in at No. 4. Dominant, all that matters is that they’re in the fun – and they’re looking like a true contender to at least get to Atlanta.

1. Clemson (12-1)
LAST WEEK: 1
No. 1 before having to deal with Miami in the ACC Championship, the absolute stomping in the 38-3 win should seal up the No. 1 spot and a trip to New Orleans. Now comes the hard part if you’re the Tigers – do you want to face Alabama or Ohio State?

Everywhere I look I see people comparing us to 2016 Penn St and Bama to 2016 us. But honestly Bama isn't the 2016 Buckeyes they are the 2015 Buckeyes they lost to the one team they shouldnt and it's gonna cost them a playoff spot

This. Anyone trying to use the 2016 scenario also needs to realize Ohio State was the only bid for the B1G. Had Auburn beat Georgia, we might’ve seen the first time a conference gets two teams into the Playoffs. That 2015 comparison is perfect, though.
