2017 College Football Playoffs (and Other Bowl Games)

There are arguments to be made for Bama and Ohio State.

It comes done to what adds more value and subtracts more value in the eyes of the Committee.

To me, three check marks out of four for Ohio State: conference championship, quality wins, winning recently, bad loss - is better than one check mark out of four for Bama: no conference championship, no quality wins, lost their last game, but no horrible losses.

As far as I can tell, those are the things the committee values- but I wouldn’t be surprised by anything.

I changed my mind now I really want us to get in. The tears from Tide fans everywhere will be so sweet and Urban and the team is going to get [Mark May] on for 30 days straight. Urbz usually has a pretty good record when that happens.
Yup. Surprised most of our fan base don’t want us in just being scared of getting blown out again . Everybody is so pussified these days.

The CFP is a mixed bag. On one hand, you want the opportunity - Urban made it clear the team wants it - because we saw what can happen in 2014. On the other hand, we saw what else can happen last season - a humiliating defeat on national TV because you're in just a bit over your head.

I saw three teams yesterday who definitely look like playoff teams. The 4th will be Ohio State, Alabama, or USC.

I also don't know how people think Bama would give Clemson a better game than OSU. If the Auburn game is anything to go by Bama would get handled just as easily.

I think if you're a fan of the 8 team concept, you want Bama in over OSU and you want Bama to look bad vs Clemson and OSU to look good vs USC. It'd be like last year (OSU over psu) x1000. To make the arguably wrong choice within one conference is one thing. Hell, if Bama was the only team From the sec to get in (let's say Georgia won but was 9-3 entering the game), I could see that as well with Bama being the only sec team. But if you miss on this pick, having two teams from one conference, we're going to 8 teams much faster than expected.

If you're a fan of an 8 team concept over being a fan of Ohio State..... there's the fucking door. Get out.
Why do people keep saying an 8 team concept is better? There is only 3 teams that deserve to be competing for a title and I'm sure you could have said that about the last few years as well.

There will still be the same argument for the 7/8 slot as there was for the 3/4 slot this year. The only good thing about it is letting all conference champs in

It's what makes college football awesome. Iowa/IowaSt/Pitt/etc can destroy everything and everyone tunes in because it's life or death.

8 teams destroys that and leaves you with a pile of mediocrity and 3 loss teams making title runs.
