2017 College Football Playoffs (and Other Bowl Games)

OK, so I wanna "told you so." 1. Conference strength does matter. 2. Because Michigan is [Mark May], we aren't gonna get a lift until the CCG against Wiscy and we better hope they take of Michigan. 3. Never underestimate TV's love of Notre Dame.

On the bright side, 1 thru 4 will narrow to 1 & 2.

If I'm Oklahoma I'm really pissed. Win by 2 TDs in the 'shoe and get ranked behind the team you beat.

And no, "just win out and we're in," is not going to win this year unless a whole lot of [Mark May] drops in games inside and outside the conference.

You are pulling the told you so waaay too early

win out and they are in, it will all take care of itself

EDIT

and for the record, OSU is not sitting 6th right now because of the B1G being "weak".

They are sitting at #6 because they lost to OU.

As we have all said to you dozens of times, if OSU takes care of business in OOC and Bowl games the strength of the B1G matters not.

Get boat raced by Clemson and OU in a 3 game span and doubts will arise.

Not the same situation as 2014. We didn't have a home-loss to Baylor and TCU, whom we jumped in the final poll due to our 59-0 plunger job of Wisconsin. The committee specifically said today that the head-to-head a lot to the committee and that's why placed OU ahead of us. So, if OU wins out what reason would the committee have to jump us over OU?

$$$$$$$$

They’ll find a way to give the nod to Ohio State, either by putting them both in or having the Bucks jump Oklahoma.

Totally disagree.. only one SEC school is getting in so there's that. Also I want to know how everyones going to see ND when their best win this year may end being against a two loss Miami team.

USC isn't winning out, neither is NC State or Sparty. I say two losses for Miami because they're about to drop to tech and then ND the following week.

They very well could end up 1 ranked win by years end.

I'm still confused about Clemson though.. not sure why they're in?

If the Buckeyes win out, finish 12-1 and B1G champions, we'll be in the top 4 of the only CFP rankings that matter.

And no, "just win out and we're in," is not going to win this year unless a whole lot of [Mark May] drops in games inside and outside the conference.

Care to make it interesting? :pimp:

There clearly are scenarios where “win out” doesn’t get us in. I personally believe those scenarios to be fairly low probability, but we can all see it.

A close game between unbeaten UG and Bama could leave the loser on the inside looking out.

So we basically need a bit of a lopsided SEC championship game and a loss from one of Clemson, Domer or OU.

I do think this is the year that, unless the Domers piss down their legs, they get in. I can see the them taking UG, Bama, ND and Clemson if we don’t see a lopsided loss from the SEC teams.

My guess for the final four:
SEC Winner
ND
B1G Winner if tOSU wins out
Clemson

I don’t see a L on the ND schedule at this point. SOS don’t give a fuck.
Clemson will underwhelm in a game and get jumped by tOSU at some point.
OU will drop a fluke game between now and the end of the season. B12 is just too unpredictable and their D hasn’t played well since they were in the 43210.

But yeah, I can easily come up with reasonable scenarios where we win out and we get left out because who we have left just isn’t enough to give us SOS cred to push us over the top... less another 59-0 beat down. And don’t get me wrong, I’m totally up for another one of those. Sadly, the UW QB doesn’t have yips this year.

ESPN is really pushing the SEC agenda again. There is a chance that if Bama and UGA played a tightly contested game, both could get in. That would be some real BS, though, because the two would likely be matched up in the very next game #1 seed vs #4 seed. It wouldn’t be as bad as that shitshow of a NCG between LSU and Bama several years ago, but bad and an absolute ratings nightmare for CFB. If you think the CFP committee isn’t giving at least some thought to ratings and profitability, you are kidding yourself.

We need TSUN to stop sucking so bad for the next few weeks and then curbstomp their sorry asses. Beating an undefeated Wisconsin would be big as well. Hopefully the Sooners lose a close one to TCU or Okie State and then win the remainder of their games.

In the end, though, the chance of more than 4 of the teams currently in the top 10 winning out is low. I agree with the others that have stated just win out and tOSU is in.

Can someone take that gif of Mark May slurping an invisible fat one and slap Heather Dinich’s disgusting mug on it already?

If she wants to be him so bad and bash the Buckeyes around the clock, we might as well oblige by giving her ugly ass something to view across social media sites when her name comes up.

This has been going on for two or three years now.

Over/under on how many years from now the playoffs get expanded to eight games...

Interesting thought on that:

One of my biggest reservations about a playoff back in the day was that it could eventually affect The Game and otherwise dilute the regular season. Now that a 4 team playoff is here we want 8 games and it's funny but I can almost talk myself back into being against that for the sake of The Game.

My theory; The rule we should hope never comes to pass is automatic conference champ bids to the playoff.

Example; This year, OSU can lock up the B1G east potentially after the MSU game or Illinois game. That guarantees them a spot in the CCG. If winning the CCG then is an auto bid to the playoffs, The Game is meaningless for the playoffs and NC chase.

Obviously there is 113 years of tradition on the line and no one is ever going to take that lightly but if it expands to 8 and conference champs get an auto bid you are one step closer to all traditional rivalry games played on the last week of the year being at risk.
