Instead of expanding to 8 teams they should just change the criteria for choosing the 4 and make it a little less subjective.
1.) The four teams must be a champion of a power conference unless....
a.) one of the conference champions has 3 losses
b.) Another team has 3 top ten victories
c.) a conference champion has not beaten a ranked opponent.
This would be great. Brings importance back to winning your conference, and can only be overtaken when another team has really been impressive.
So the committee is/are hoping the Buckeyes look like they did against Wisky. USC is hoping also.that basically means the committee has to hope OSU doesn't look very good against USC.
2012 the Buckeyes and ped were on probation and Wisky won the B1G at 8-5. IOW some years certain conferences are gonna suck! Another thing Klatt mentioned today having talked to all 5 P5 commissioners, expansion isn't even up for discussion. Have mentioned a couple times even if all P5 champions are 13-0 and add ND at 12-0 they still will be reluctant to expand. Too many games already w/more chance for injuries and most player families can't afford to attend one playoff game, let alone (3). Plus they probably don't have the time as well.5 P5 champions and 3 at large bids.
When you can't find a competent 4th team, the smart move is to invite more junk to the party.5 P5 champions and 3 at large bids.
I just love the 180 we've done since the mid-to-late 00s when the SEC was laughing at the B1G for (rightfully) being a dog conference. Making fun of OSU for scheduling MAC opponents and the like. Now that the shoe is on the other foot SEC fans are all about the eye test now.Better schedule Mercer next year!
Hasn't happened in (11) years. ok, maybe they're due, but highly unlikely. Again, especially since they're playing w/house $$$ just like the 2014 Buckeyes.
November 17, 2007 (less than 11 years ago, for those scoring at home)
Louisiana Monroe (6-6) 21 Alabama 14
Remind me.... what 6-6 mid major has Ohio State lost to in that same time frame?
