I think for D1-A football 8 teams is too much.

How many years are there where you can honestly say there are 8 championship caliber teams when the season is said and done?

Hell this year you can barely claim there are 4 of them. This seasons champ will be the weakest in some time.

Think OSU/psu last year but but this time instead of fucking up and having one conference team going in ahead of that same conference using the unequivocally better rule, they would have used that rule incorrectly to give a conference a 2nd team and eliminate an entire conference altogether. That would have repircussions felt that weren't felt last year because A) it was an intra-conference fuck up and B) OSU had a legit resume. This year would be inter-conference and Bama has no resume whatsoever besides 4 letters (B, A, M, and A). I don't think it would go to 8 because of the potential fuck up, but the committee would be blown up in some way. Either members or criteria or both.

I think they fucked up either way.
Arguably USC, Ohio State, Wisconsin, and UCF should all be ranked ahead of Alabama.
If UCF beats Auburn, especially. And Wisconsin - Miami ...
Unless Bama wins it all, there's gonna be a few teams that will have legit reasons to say they should have gone over 1-loss played-nobody won-nothing schedule-FCS Alabama.

Whoever wins the Rose Bowl (Dallas Edition) will forever have an argument that they should have gone to the big dance.

Anyway, I kinda like the idea of PAC and B1G champs playing in Texas... true neutral site and should be a great game.

The SEC fans defense of the 8 game conference schedule (when basically everyone else is at 9 now) cracks me up

"EVERYONE ELSE JUST WANTS THE SEC TO BEAT UP ON EACHOTHER MORE!" is basically what they come up with on their forums and what not.

They really don't wanna give up that late November game against Mercer or whatever other schlub they can find.
