2017 CFB Bowl Games Open Thread

I’m all for keeping the rule, so long as it’s called correctly, and consistently. As it stands right now, it’s neither.

I think it needs to be significantly tweaked to remove the likelihood of ejection in all but the most blatant of hits. Unsportsmanlike conduct with a yellow card type of infraction (two and you're out) would be much more fair in the vast majority of cases.

Is that what he said? We know that?

The ref initiated the contact, unnecessarily. His ego ejected the player. That's poor officiating.

Officials are not supposed to instigate, unless they're MLB umps (who are simply ridiculous) or TV Ted.
We don't but he was yelling in his face and I'm 95% sure it wasn't just how was your holiday. It is what it is at this point but I'm 50/50 on it at this point. The official wasn't blameless but the kid wasn't a complete angel either.

Agreed. I also don’t like the idea of immediate ejection. Taking the severity out of the penalty a bit, while still enforcing it might be a step in the right direction. Do the same thing as Unsportsmanlike Conduct. Two and you’re gone.

Lord these refs in this NW/UK game are some pussies. Every little thing is a damn penalty? Grow some skin and let the kids play some football
the last two penalties (holding during run and slapping opponent's helmet) were certainly warranted, though. the ejections were stupid, but if you're knocking opponents' helmets after the play or blatantly holding on the edge, it should be called.
