Game Thread 2015 Sugar Bowl: (1) Alabama vs. (4) Ohio State, Jan 1st @ 8:30p ET, ESPN (civilized thread)

I was watching the game again, this time on "Spidercam" on the watchespn app, there was a play where Jalin Marshall lined up in the backfield and they ran an outsize zone to the right side. Darryl Baldwin punished a DB who was attacking downhill, Zeke punished DePriest and Jalin zipped past everybody and would have been gone if not for running into Billy Price. There was no one close. Two plays later Zeke broke the long one, if I remember correctly, but damn it's crazy how many points were left on the field that night.
Well, I assume you're talking about Zeke's 54 yarder in the first. So... Jalin's running into Price wasn't more points left on the field, it's the same 4 left on the field after Zeke's run. From my review, Ohio State could have won that game 56-21 had they jumped on the kick off in the EZ and punched it in when they had a 1st and G - while taking away the short fields that Bama had.... and.. if you REALLY want to put the scarlet glasses on, that 1st down bomb with 2 or so left on the clock... I think if that ball is thrown about a yard or two further it's another TD, looked to me like he had a step.

Coulda, shoulda, and what if they get 1 of two potential PI calls against Cy Rush on long throws to Thomas? It was a tough, physical game and made quite clear why both teams had been selected to be there.

I don't know if the Bucks came out tighter than Alabama in the first quarter, but they clearly won the first half in every way but the scoreboard - credit the Tide's goal line defense for playing tough and question why the decision to run wide and not try and pound - exactly what they did the third time they got inside the five.

The third quarter belonged to the Bucks until their punter took over (I resisted the phrase "kicked in."), the fourth to Alabama until Zeke took off.

It was a great game between two excellent teams, but with or without scarlet glasses I feel like Ohio State had the chance to make it a blow out, a chance 'bama lost when they couldn't keep the Bucks from going on a 28 - 0 run.

Call it whatever you like, but that game was a flea fart away from silly ass whooping.

I'm hoping with all my heart and beard that tOSU puts it all together and plays, to a man, the game they're capable of. Mistake free. Play fast and instinctive. Don't let them dictate a damn thing and leave it all out there. Do that...and in my heart of hearts, I know they'll deliver a beatdown for the ages. But if by some chance they play their perfect game and Oregon prevails, i'll still be proud as fuck.

I had someone tell me Bama was on the verge of taking us to the woodshed and then "they aren't sure what happened"

I questioned what game they watched. Buckeyes dominated that game while shooting themselves in the foot.

The shotgun on first and goal at the one that resulted in a fumble and later a field goal didn't exactly help. I hope this week OSU practiced Jones lining up under center for a QB sneak should that opportunity present itself again.

Yeah, a little more discipline and Ohio State could have won really handily, but Alabama is still a pretty good team, they forced some mistakes, and when they needed to, they played solid goal line defense. Two very good teams, and Ohio State is still pretty young. Pretty sure we will be the runaway favorite to win the B1G next year. Not sure about Alabama next year.

I skimmed through the Finebaum film room show replay that I had on my dvr. I mostly skipped to the good parts. At one point late in the game a caller asked Finebaum what this bowl season would mean to the SEC reputation and he replied something like "how do you spell cataclysmic?"

Yeah, I still vote for #DisappointedBuckeyeGirl ("DBG" for short) to replace the "Cosby Count."
