I don't see a huge discrepancy when it comes to size or speed for either side. Both are comparable. Where the B1G usually lacks speed is on the interior lines. OSU is not lacking there, but they give up some size instead. This game will come down to which coaches have the better game plan IMO. There are NFL caliper athletes all over the field both sides. But which side recognizes the tendencies and adjusts quicker will win the game.

Watched every Bama/Ohio State game this year. Most of my "Holy shit, he's fast!" comments came while watching the Buckeyes. I have not looked at 40 yard dash times other than the comparisons you've presented previously in one of these threads.

Keep in mind, I'm in no way saying Bama has no speed. I'm just giving an honest opinion based on film throughout the season.

Bama has good speed, no doubt. IMHO It would be wrong to just see them as a power team. With that being said:

I'm pretty sure our LBs would have an edge in the speed area especially with Lee and then Kwon.

DL for sure (at least quickness)

DB - Doran Grant has some serious wheels. Apple has good speed also. You don't see these guys getting torched for big yards.

Our RB/HBs with Elliott, Samuel, Wilson and Marshall would have the edge.

Devin Smith at WR may be the fastest guy on the field.

That would be my observation.

We very well may be faster but really is it going to be such a discrepancy that Bama' just won't know what they're dealing with? Not at all, they will be fine and Alabama will probably make a play or two on our guys where we go "Holy shit I thought our guy was faster than that".

This game, so far to me is the hardest to get a read on. We need to play better defensively than we did against MSU and I see Bama' most comparable to them so it does give me some pause about the game. Our Defensive line has got to dominate because they will not have the help in the box like they did against Wisconsin and as we've shown we are extremely reluctant in putting extra people in the box. The one thing I keep coming back to though is the Bama' Linebackers and how we can really take advantage of them. As the Elevenwarriors article pointed out today about Bama's run defense putting stress on the LB's to read the offense really slows them down and when they already are a little slower than normal (especially 33) it can open some things. Then again if Bama's defensive line is owning our line it won't really matter. Win the trenches you win the game.

I think our LBs have plenty of speed. Lee is a burner, Perry is a good athlete and Grant/McMillan are pretty good athletes for Mikes. The problem is that Perry and Grant are not consistent football players.

I don't think Bama is a slower, power team. I think OSU has a few spots where they are faster but I don't see a distinction overall.

I'm hopeful that we can use one of the few speed/quickness advantages we do possess and that would be our RB/HB against the Tide's LB's. This is where I see us being able to challenge their D on the edges. Which of their LB's is going to cover Elliott, Wilson or Marshall or Samuel when there is a pass out in the flat? This and play action could prove helpful in slowing down Bama's LB's. We will need any mismatch we can take advantage of.

On the other hand I am concerned with Sims mobility/quickness and his ability to make things happen when he is forced to scramble.
