2015 NCAA Basketball Tournament Discussion

Seriously though, is there any facility about the size of Dayton's arena that isn't either used by a Div. I team or in the school's metro area in the areas with heavy college basketball interest? Pretty sure finding such a location would be basically impossible. This was going to happen at some point no matter the location, so I really don't care to hear the "but it was a home game" stuff.

Door plays home games in the tournament every damn year.

I don't understand people bitching about that being a home game...and I'm the first person in line to bitch about conference tournaments that are played at the same school every year *cough*Siena*cough*. They willingly accept....even embrace....the first 4 games that aren't really part of the tournament. Nobody else is begging to have these pointless games. Nobody was begging for it when it was just the single play in game. Dayton was. So once every 10 years or so they get a little reward of a home game for it.

Wait. People are actually arguing FOR that being a foul?

Nah. No way.

The argument on TV was that it's not really a foul but it's usually called, so they should call it. This is why TV commentators generally don't tend to split atoms in their spare time. The guy leaning in to take the shot is initiating the contact. It should be a call on him, if anything.

He's no more trying to actually get a shot than the guy who intentionally fouls a guy in the final minute but it's not called intentional because he makes a half-hearted effort to pretend he's going for the ball and we all pretend we're too stupid to know it.

I agree whole-heartedly that it shouldn't be a foul on the defender, if we were looking at the issue for the first time. That said, I think there's some merit to the argument that a coach who sees that foul called on the defender 95% of the time that happens should be able to expect that it be called for his player last night.

They say grabbing rebounds is dirty work. Well, judging by the reactions of people (particularly the cheerleaders), it wasn't pretty to see this rebound up close.

And so it begins, the real tournament. I look forward to some of you updating us on your bracket in this thread - as opposed to the bracket thread - because the impact of a brewing upset on your bracket is infinitely fascinating to everyone who isn't you. :excited:
