Game Thread 2015 National Championship Game: (2) Oregon vs. (4) Ohio State, Jan 12th @ 8:30p ET, ESPN

Right. That's why I said one of the main reasons he left is he lost dominance. "This is too hard! I'm going to take a break until I can get out of the SEC."

At that time, the sec was hell for coaches. It really was the dominant conference. I think it was too hard on him week in and week out, he just wouldn't flat out admit it. That bothers me. Hell, I wouldn't be able to handle coaching cfb, much less dealing with the crazy sec fans. When you add in the expectations of a title during those years, it's a lot. He needed to take a few years off for himself, but he wouldn't admit it.

I think dealing with a bunch of lunatics and thugs was much worse for his health than the SEC. Especially with the crackdowns coming from the NCAA at the time. Regardless, I think the SEC dominance thing is mostly hot air. There are (and have been for a long time) a couple of really good programs and the rest are mostly bottom feeders. I do believe that Urban became enamored with being the best, grinding so much that it did indeed have an impact on his life and his health. As far as the week in, week out? Nah. He lost championship caliber players and was dealing with the rebuilding process while Bama was becoming a recruiting juggernaut and Les was putting together a great squad. Maybe that got the best of him, who knows. But it still boiled down to those few teams being the thorn in his side.

November 2009, "I'll stay at Florida as long as they'll have me."

December 2009,"oops, I lost with my best team. I give up. ". If he would have said, " I changed my mind, I quit and I hate all y'all." That would have been different. He ran.
Oh so let me get this right.

He coaches at Bowling Green. A team that was 2-9 goes 8-3 and then 9-3. Sounds like a tough gig.
Then he moves up to Utah. Again a team that was 5-6 goes 10-2 then 12-0. At places like Bowling Green and Utah........you know, bastions of high school talent where it's easy to get players.
Then he moves up to Florida, where he wins 2 National Championships and starts the SEC propaganda bullshit.
THEN....because it makes the myth of the SEC even greater for you SEC folk, he turns into a pussy who is afraid of the very super conference that he had a hand in building.

Let me guess.....the Alabama fan thinks he was scared of Nick Saban.

I believe you and I are in nearly complete agreement.

When I talk about sec dominance, I do mean simply the top of the conference. However, in conference games are tough, week in and week out. If you are at the top of your conference, your conference mates are going to give you their best game.

So, what would have been the right move? Pull a Lebron James? Miami still hates him, just like Cleveland did when he left here.

Why are we arguing about this? I want Alabama fans to hate Urban Meyer. It means he's doing a good job.

Meanwhile, I hear there's a pretty big game coming up in a week. Why don't we get back to talking about that?

Sho ya right! 12 GAUGE, BABY! CAR-DALE JONES!!! 42 YARDS! HAHAHAHA! BLOOD... THIRSTY! GIVE IT HERE... AND DON'T. SAY. NOTHIN'!

Good thing he went to tOSU, where teams that beat Auburn, Mizzou, gave LSU all they could handle, and Baylor don't give tOSU their best shot.

On soapbox:

SOME of you guys need to listen to yourselves You are just as bad as the People who believe in total sec dominance. Do I believe the SEC was dominant? Yes, at the top, that's why they won several titles in a row. Do I believe the middle of the conference was dominant over the top of other conferences? No, and I don't care about the middle of the conference. I'm tired of some of you guys being conspiracy nuts and trying to discount an argument by saying I am an SEC homer when there is absolutely nothing on here that supports that. I think I was one of the first Bama posters here to say we were in for a rough time in this game. If "hurrr durrr, you think SEC is dominant so you are dumb." Is the main source of why you think you are right, you aren't. Furthermore, you are just as bad as those who proclaim the SEC to be dominant, because you are making assumptions without caveats or thoughts that you could be wrong. It's always dangerous to assume something like that, just ask those finebaum callers that said the sugar bowl was going to look like bama vs Notre dame.

Sorry for cluttering this thread, but I saw this crap twice in one page.

Edit: make it three times.

This [Mark May] right here is what I'm talking about. Some of you guys can't talk reasonably. There is a thread for bs.

Cash, when you see things like this, understand that the guys and gals here have put up with being told their team isn't good enough for about a decade now. This might finally be our year and it has been a wild ride. Most people didn't think these guys had a shot in hell, so just keep this in mind when you see us thumping our chests and finally celebrating a little dominance. You're good company, but you haven't lived with the clamoring that we've had since the game against UF in 07. This is just our party right now and it can get a little wild. Cheers, man.
