Ok if you say so. I'm not saying he won't be explosive, but he's a much bigger man now than he was then, so he will be different. Perhaps better, but I don't expect him to be capable of THAT move.

Actually I think he's lighter now than he use to be. It's easy to see that we disagree on this point... He still has the ability to turn on a dime, he still can hit one from 60 yards out, and if the opportunity arises he will embarrass his opponent in the open field. Nothing has changed about Braxton for the worse. If anything his better conditioning now for two years could lead to some even more incredible highlights.

Agree with you. I think he will be more rested and more explosive once he does get those touches because he won't be the main QB taking every snap. He's an amazing and explosive athlete and I think this is the best position for him. I'll take B. Miller one-on-one with a safety or CB all day! I can't wait to see him and this team! Is it September 7th yet?

I do think moving to H-Back was a great career move (i.e. NFL wise) for him; in addition, it allows Meyer put the best 11 offensive players on the field at the same time. However, I wonder just how sound his shoulder is.

My concern is that they're hopeful he *could* return to full strength. If they're committed to moving him to H they should do it 100% and scrap any plans of him playing QB again. Period. Worst thing for him now would be to 'dabble' back at QB or with gadget plays in October and re-injure the shoulder on a pass attempt.

The only downside of having JT and Cardale (with some role at QB for Braxton looming) is that it has the potential to cause divisions on the team. After hearing them talk, I have zero concerns about that. Now they just need to put the guy on the field that gives them the best chance to win. I don't know who that is. My gut tells me it is JT, but I also think they can win with Cardale, and, heck, Joe Burrow. But my sense is that both will have significant impact on the success of this team no matter who takes the first snap against VT.

Very interesting info-graphic. We all know how much Coach Meyer values a running QB but we also know how much he values explosive plays. Should be interesting to see how this shakes out.

In case you hadn’t heard, Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer, offensive coordinator Ed Warinner and quarterbacks coach Tim Beck have quite the dilemma on their hands. Who are they going to start: J.T. Barrett or Cardale Jones?

Two well-accomplished quarterbacks. One broke nearly every Big Ten single-season record held by a signal caller, while the other led the Buckeyes to a national championship when the first one went down with a season-ending injury in the regular-season finale.

Where do you even begin in figuring out who is going to be the starter for the 2015 season?

Well, Meyer, Warinner and Beck certainly didn’t overthink that part. Actually, they decided how they would start this unprecedented quarterback battle in the simplest of ways.

Hope to see cardale start week 1. If they line up in the 46 bear again putting cardale out there with a 4 wr set with zeke in the backfield picking up the blitz they will get crushed. If braxton can catch the ball over his shoulder he will be able to burn any cb.

COLUMBUS -- With one week of Ohio State's quarterback competition between Cardale Jones and J.T. Barrett in the books, coach Urban Meyer did not sound any closer to picking a starter than he was at the start of preseason camp.

As much as the coach has talked about how unique the battle is and how close it figures to be when it comes time to put someone on top of the depth chart, the suggestion of playing both has come up in various circles.

Do not count Jones among the camp looking for that to be the choice.

"I don't think that would be a great idea," Jones said Sunday during Ohio State's media day.

While expressing confidence in Meyer's ability to make the situation workable, Jones is concerned about lack of continuity hurting each quarterback's ability to perform.

"Yesterday we were going every four snaps because the (first team) would go with J.T. and the (second team) would go and then it would be me with the (first team) and then the other young guys had to go," Jones said. "So every two or three sets I was going, and after the third time I was like, 'I can't get in a rhythm.'

"In a two-quarterback system, let's say I'm on the field for three plays and I'm off the field and he runs a drive or something like that; I don't know how well that would work as far as rhythm and developing timing with the guys."

Citing his own experience in a two-quarterback system in high school, Barrett also came out against sharing time this fall.

“I don’t think it would be as efficient," Barrett said. "I did that in high school. It was kind of like this competition. I was a sophomore, he was a senior and we switched every series.

"As a quarterback, that is kind of rough to do. You don’t have a rhythm, you don’t get a vibe from the defense and how they are trying to play us. You are not playing the quarterback as an individual. You are playing an offense.”

2015 SEASON PREVIEW: THE STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES OF BOTH OHIO STATE QUARTERBACKS

Their resumes are certainly impressive.

One is the reigning Big Ten quarterback and freshman of the year, a third-team AP All-American, and set a school record with 44 touchdowns last fall.

The other was the Big Ten Championship game MVP, led the his team through the first college football playoff, and is predicted by some to be the top pick in the NFL draft this spring.

Urban Meyer and the Ohio State Buckeyes find themselves in a very unique situation this summer, trying to decide between two very talented players. While quarterback competitions certainly aren't rare, having to choose between a duo that have both shown an ability to win big games is, meaning every other fanbase in the nation would kill to see their team faced with the same 'dilemma.'

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Stanley Jackson looks back at Ohio State's 1996 season and sees missed opportunity.

If only John Cooper would have gone with one quarterback -- not two -- the Buckeyes would have another national championship banner hanging in the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.

"I think we would have won it all if he would have picked either guy and stuck with him," Jackson told Northeast Ohio Media Group on Monday evening. "If Coach Cooper would've gone with Joe (Germaine) earlier in the year, by the end of the year he would've been playing much better than he did in that Michigan game. There's no question in my mind he would've won that game.
