2015-16 Ohio State Quarterback Discussion

FWIW, A.J. Hawk's pick for Ohio State quarterback

"It's tough to not play the guy who won the national championship for you."
- Former Ohio State linebacker A.J. Hawk on The Rich Eisen Show

Earlier today former Ohio State linebacker A.J. Hawk called in to The Rich Eisen Show and shared his thoughts on who his choice was to start at quarterback this season for Ohio State. Hawk said that if he had to choose the starter at quarterback it would be Cardale Jones, as it would be tough to go against the guy who led the Buckeyes in the final three games of the season to the national championship.

Jones wasn't Hawk's first pick to start for the Buckeyes though, as before Braxton Miller decided to switch to wide receiver, Hawk was hoping to see Miller taking the snaps this year for Ohio State. The reasoning for Miller being Hawk's first pick before the position change is due to the fact that Miller was a fellow "937 area code guy". Both are Dayton-area guys, Hawk growing up in Kettering while Miller went to high school about 30 minutes away in Huber Heights.

Dream of Three Quarterback for Ohio State is a Reality Says Meyer

Once it became apparent that quarterbacks Braxton Miller, J.T. Barrett, and Cardale Jones would all return to Ohio State for the 2015 season, fans spent nights dreaming of the possibilities.

When Braxton Miller announced to Sports Illustrated that he would switch to wide receiver after two major shoulder surgeries, those dreams became even more of a reality.

You can hear Paul Keels calling it now.

“J.T. Barrett in the shotgun, Ezekiel Elliot behind him with Braxton Miller in the slot. Elliot moves to Barrett’s right as Barrett gives the clap. The ball is snapped to Barrett who fires a quick bullet to Miller. Miller catches and takes off…”

“Cardale Jones ready for the snap with Miller flanked out wide. The ball is snapped and Jones drops back. He looks left, right back towards Miller who streaks by the safety. Jones cocks back and unloads deep down field looking for a wide open Miller…”

One of the most dynamic athletes in college football combined with two quarterbacks that helped the Buckeyes win a national championship. That’s something to get excited about.

“That’s pretty intriguing,” Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer said of the possibilities with the quarterbacks at Big Ten Media Days. “And for a guy that sits and doodles all day long like a child, that’s pretty exciting.”

Meyer said he’s not letting anyone see his doodles, but he did give an enticing eye into his thoughts.

When asked if there’s a possibility of seeing Miller, Barrett, and Jones on the field at the same time, Meyer gave a quick and firm response, “Yes.”

I still love Braxton's goal line hesitation, change of direction juke, then dive into the end zone vs. the cult.

It's about the most miraculous 1 yard I have ever seen. But it really displays his elite ability to change directions on a dime and accelerate. Nobody in the country could replicate that play.

There was Cardale's 1yd sneak turned into a long looping run to the outside... that was pretty miraculous. To the point that I'm not sure if it was designed or not ?
But miraculous for entirely different reasons
Really looking forward to Braxton's return... can't wait another month

He also got dinged in the SDSU game if I remember right... Bottom line, he will move the same if not better this year. Besides, it's his MONEY year and with that he's got to prove to the scouts that he can do it all. IMO, big year for #5
Ok if you say so. I'm not saying he won't be explosive, but he's a much bigger man now than he was then, so he will be different. Perhaps better, but I don't expect him to be capable of THAT move.
