2014 TSUN Shenanigans and Arguments

Like maybe that Rex Ryan asshole in NYC? Or the incompetent Bozo at Minnesota? And then there are the Cincinnati and Cleveland jobs where mediocrity seems to be the goal each season.

Michigan can't offer the 49ers players in exchange - which may be what the SF Management wants - a wide receiver or a pass rusher and a draft pick for a coach who won't kiss the owner's ass. So my question becomes what, if the 9ers want compensation, makes Michigan different from an NFL bid - a contract is a contract. To break it someone's going to have to pay, either an NFL team or Michigan or Harbaugh, right?

That would be the smart thing to do by the 49ers front office. However, it doesn't appear to be where this is heading.

I was not aware that Michigan owed SF anything if they hire him.

That's how I'm reading this too, but I have a hard time believing that 9er management would leave a hole like that in a contract. It seems to me that he's under contract for one more year and thus their property to do with as they please. He could quit, but surely they put a clause in the contract to cover that forcing him to buy his own freedom. If that's not the case I bet there are some lawyers in the SF front office looking for new jobs.

If Harbaugh can't get along with the 49ers management.
And TSUN has had an internal war going on for a decade.
Why would he ,all of a sudden, be the "home run" hire?
They are clearly desperate.
So desperate to hire even one of the biggest, most arrogant ass-holes in all of coaching.
Almost guaranteed to leave after a couple years of dealing with the TSUN administration and boosters.
But, he may bring a little more "cred" to the Big.
And the "Rivalry".

If the scUM job is THAT attractive and has THAT much drawing power, they wouldnt have to offer him THAT kind of contract. That said, it was the ONLY move they had. They had to land Harbaugh, he was the only guy that would be seen as a homerun, and they're smart to do it. He's the best coach available to them. Kudos to them for improving the coaching situation in the B1G after corn and bucky rolled over and accepted the status quo.

I still take our guy ten times out of ten. Hairball-Urban... Bring it on. :urban2:

I imagine there is some financial consequence for leaving early, but that's probably part of the deal with Michigan and strictly a financial settlement of some sort.
Whereas SanFran can demand trades, draft picks, etc. if he stays within the NFL... options that improve their team. With salary cap, draft, etc. there's limited options to improve your team roster -- making such options far more noteworthy. A financial settlement would appear negligible by comparison. Not like NFL teams are starving for money. The article also makes it clear they're talking about trades specifically:

"The remaining year on Harbaugh's contract was the driving force behind the idea of trading him — in the same vein as the Raiders getting two first-round picks, two second-rounders and $8 million from the Buccaneers for Jon Gruden in 2002."

Because he wants to be in the nfl. There's a reason why he ended up in san fran not aa in 2011.

True and I believe eventually he we will end up back in the NFL. Michigan is gonna get more years out of him then most expect, or he will leave a lot of money on the table. His contract has been said to be pretty heavy back load we will find that out soon enough. But another factor into the last source was Dave Brandon those 2 HUGE egos at Michigan at the same time? Lol that would have been interesting. Plus Brandon had his man in Brady that's who he and LC wanted to be their puppet. Dave Brandon sat in on sunday film sessions and coaches meeting. Just weird i'm sure most coaches wouldn't have taken his shit. So he got the guy that would have "walked to michigan"

Him being offered in 2011 is still laughable to me. Brandon says he never offered him, and JH would have never worked with Brandon to begin with.

Im sure Oakland will get in and give him a sales pitch. But Oakland also has to deal with the Rooney Rule. UM will keep the full court press on to fialize as quicky as possible.....in my IMO
