2014 TSUN Football News

I've officially moved from part hatred and part pity to full pity for this program.

Advice for those in A2: send a blank check to both Harbaugh brothers and Les Miles. The first one to fill it out and cash it is your next football coach.

Everybody mentions Les Miles. A couple of things on that. One, he's gonna be 61 in a little over a month. Two, he won't be stockpiling his team with a ton of homegrown studs like he is right now in Louisiana. Three, I don't know how his recruiting will go when having to actually operate within the rules. Four, Les has a lot of shady things happen around him that will/would never fly in tsun.

I don't think he's the miracle man that a lot of people think he'd be up there. In fact, I think you'd only get slightly better results than you do with Hoke. Maybe actually back to 2000-2007 Lllllloyd Carr. Granted, that's a definite improvement. But he'd also be much more likely to embarrass your program.

No doubt, I get more than a little joy over scUM's misery, but the struggles of the B1G has changed my mind about how I think about them. A strong scUM program is essential to a strong B1G, and a strong B1G is good for Ohio State. Part of me wants scuM to stay down until OSU gets up in the series, but with this new playoff system, I believe that a weak scUM hurts Ohio State.

We are in big trouble as a conference when we are relying on Indiana to get a big win for our conference. But I understand that if each B1G school looks at scUM through the eyes of their individual games with them, that there are no tears being shed for the misery in A2. I would argue that those people may want to broaden their thinking a little bit.

I agree. Not sure why Miles would want to leave LSU for a dumpster fire like scUM, when if he thinks he has pressure to win now, hed have even more as being named the savior to scUM football. At LSU he can be the wily, cooky, grass eating, play clock blowing fun loving coach that Lousianans love. And on top of that he has some of the top talent in the country in his backyard and doesn't need to recruit outside of 2 state radius. If he were to leave he'd also go from having a future star in Leonard Fournette to the average ness of Green and Smith and the USC transfer. And coaching and recruiting in the blurred lines of rules in the SEC would be too hard to pass up. He'd have to actually go after kids who can pass classes instead of relying on, cough ahem bagmen(allegedly).
ScUM should stop being dellusional and going after "scUM men" and get an actually good coach from anywhere. But that of course won't happen, and they'll end up with a guy that played for Bo in the 70s or 80s that's coaching for a Big Sky or American East team

OSU takes care of it's own business in 2013 and they are playing for a NC.

scUM was bad last year too.

The only thinking that needs broadened is to consider A) OSU needs to win its big games and the strength of the B1G means dick B) the easiest path to a playoff is best. Once you are in anything can happen.

exactly. I remember some on here wishing TSUN was good again and to make The Game more of a rivalry. My response: Fuck that. I want TSUN to lose, look bad and embarrass their fans every single time they take the field. I hope they go 2-10 every damn year...fuck that, I hope they go 0-12 every year. Fuck m*ch*g*n.

WRONG!!!!! If a certain network is going to blow smoke up the asses of American football fans every time a school from Mississippi or Kentucky, or even SC ffs, gets a win and call it $EC dominance, then we need to not only rely on some of our brethren to get some noticeable wins, we should damn near demand it of them.

I won't claim to have my finger on the pulse of Indiana Hoosier football or anything, but living in the state I tend to notice them a bit more. They have been my dark horse in the BIG for a couple of years now....not sure why, I think it's who they are recruiting.?????? Maybe beating #18 on the road, from the greatest footballin conference ever, is the step they needed to achieve more. I'm not saying they won't Hoosier it up against Maryland this weekend or even North Texas the week after that, but you gotta have a little something going on to win a football game in the way they did against Mizzou.

Now...back to the thread at hand. With 13 kids from Ohio, obviously with superpowers...they should have no problem going to AA and getting the win Nov 1st.

WRONG!!!!!

2013 was a BCS system. New system now - where the perception of X school is affected by the conference they win. There are 4 slots and 5 power conferences = someone's getting left out. 2 will get left out if the SEC schools/fans get their way. So you have to have a strong OOC slate and your conference has to be relatively strong. I do think that an undefeated B1G champion will be in, but that's not going to happen this year (unless Nebraska or PSU runs the table), so if you want an 12-1 Ohio State to get one of those spots, their conference needs to be in the top 3 rated conferences. Right now, the B1G is 5 - and a large reason for that rating is the ineptitude in A2. Defeating an 11-0 scUM is great for Ohio State in this system. Defeating a 5-6 scUM is bad. It's simple, and frankly, an undeniable reality.

You use a lot of absolutes to describe your opinions.

One other undeniable reality is that OSU's brand is such that they aren't getting left out of a top 4 (which will expand to 8 before you know what happened) if they are undefeated. They beat VT this year and they are in everyone's top 4 conversation. OSU's national perception is based more on what they do(or fail to do) in big OOC games than the overall perceived strength of the B1G or any individual team in it.

The weakness of the B1G isn't going to be overcome in the media, so the best chance of success for OSU is to be undefeated and force their way into the playoff. Easiest path to undefeated is having the B1G stay weak. That is also solid logic but undeniably, just one guys opinion.

If osu gets back to playing high quality football the conference will stop mattering. It became an issue because they struggled far more against the sec than anyone else.

The 12, 13 & 14 teams only deserved an unquestioned invite to the playoff if they were undefeated. We aren't talking about a 2005 osu team.
