I don't know that it's even a coaching/development issue with Harmon, err, Gardner. He shows flashes of brilliance at times, the physical tools are there, and he knows how to use them. He played pretty well the last handful of games last season despite getting knocked on his ass 95% of plays. He just seems to regress at the most inopportune moments. That leads me to believe he's a mental midget who can't stay on a straight path.
Now, both of your supposed blue-chip running backs eschewing running through giant holes and opting to head into a mass of humanity instead...that points to coaching. Or, I guess they could be plum dumb.
It's the coaching brah.
Just got to keep praying we get one of the Harbaugh brothers to turn this around.
I think their coaching search will consist of 3 key players. My money is on them missing their top choices again and going with someone at #4 or lower:
Hard to eat a full rack of ribs with the headset on...Hoke seems to spend more time figuring out where his next meal will come from rather than actually coaching.
You can click to enlarge that picture, or I can just tell you that Michigan ran a four-minute drill with zero urgency or effectiveness, Brady Hoke decided to punt on 4th-and-1 from the Miami 32—a decision so surprising Miami didn't put out a returner, then called a timeout—and then the Wolverines took a delay of game penalty following another Miami "you can't be serious" timeout to give Will Hagerup more room to boom a punt that hit the end zone on the fly. Insert giant red "WTF" flag here.
Green looked better today than I've seen him. Saw the holes better. Good cuts. Kept the legs churning. Solid day for him. Second half was a lot better than the first.
Sugar Shane came in. 0-2 passing.
