I've never seen anything that indicates he even wants the scUM job.
I doubt Jim would ever take the scUM job. I think after Rich Rod his name came up and he had a few choice words for his former university. Time heals all wounds, but unless the 49ers cut him loose and no one else comes calling, I see him sticking around the NFL.
Only Michigan can figure out how to lose by 30+ points despite out gaining their opponent, holding them to 54 yards rushing on 31 carries, and winning the TOP by 6 minutes. Think about that for a second.

Jerra has the dump trucks lined up if you ask any rational Dallas fan.If the 49ers are dumb enough to cut him loose, I'd imagine every NFL team with a head coaching vacancy would be thrilled to hand the guy a contract.
I cannot think of a coach who went from College to the NFL, had success in the NFL, and decided to go back to college coaching. Been plenty of coaches who failed in the NFL and went back, but I can't think of one who's had success and gone backIf the 49ers are dumb enough to cut him loose, I'd imagine every NFL team with a head coaching vacancy would be thrilled to hand the guy a contract.
I'm not sure about that. Going 8-5 with losses to your big-three rivals--especially if both MSU and OSU win big like ND did--will not be enough to keep him around. That would make him 1-3 against both us and MSU, and 2-2 against ND (4-8 overall), with his only win over being us against an interim head coach (and 0-3 against Meyer). With this schedule, they'll still find a way to win 8-9 games. Brandon will claim it's an improvement and no changes will be made. It's going to take a complete train wreck to Hoke out here at this point. I'm talking 6 wins maximum.
It would be a tough call for Hoke to groom a kid for next year when he needs success this year to get to next year.My question is, how long to they stick with Tom Harm--err, Gardner. When he's on, he's actually pretty decent. However, when he melts, good lord. Do they continue to trot him out there to turn the ball over 2-4 times a game, or do they start looking at Suga Shane for next year?
Especially in their prime. I think Bill Walsh may have gone back? But after he was no longer an elite coach. And I may be completely making that up, but I feel like some legendary coach did that. Or to go to the NBA level, see Larry Brown.I cannot think of a coach who went from College to the NFL, had success in the NFL, and decided to go back to college coaching.
