2014 tOSU Defense Discussion

Bottom line is this Wisconsin team is more one dimensional than last years version. Last year they had Abrederius (whatever you spell it), they had a better TE to deal with and James White along with Gordon. To me it's rather simple if you ask and that is you have got to do what we did last year which is put Grant on their best WR (like we did with Roby last year) and then load the box to stop Gordon which we did a good job of last year with him getting only 75 yards. We can do this because they don't run out or spread formations which force us to stay honest but I assure you if we play out safeties 12 yards off the ball and play 6-7 in the box all game we will most likely lose this game.

So our DT rotation yielded...one singular snap for Schutt. To be fair, Ash/Fickell continued with the 3-3-5 nickel alignment with Reeves replacing Washington.

There was one play from a 3-2-6 dime look that I can't recall seeing before, featuring Reeves and Burrows.

Again, absolutely no subbing in the back seven. Conley got a snap or two in the 3Q after D. Grant had a collision with Drake Johnson along the sideline.

Sidenote, the camerawork this game was garbage...way too zoomed in on the box so you couldn't tell who was split wide. This was more of a problem when the Buckeyes were on offense.

Fuck that guy. He is to our football team what Aaron Craft was to everyone else.

Bo P. was amazing as a DC at LSU, but his defenses have been atrocious at Nebraska. Do we really want the guy who gave up 408 rushing yards to Wisconsin, leading our D?

How many times have we seen people get promoted past their level of competency? The USC offense was dysfunctional last year with Kiffin but this year the offense at Bama hasn't been nearly as dysfunctional. Some coaches can't timeshare their brain properly to be a HC but when they can concentrate on being a DC/OC they are in their element.

Not a knock on Bo. A prime example of this in the NFL is Norv Turner.

This D against the run is just not good, if we hold Gordon to under 150 (1st, I would be shocked), and that likely means the other dude (Clement, has about 170). And Stave is good enough to pass sucessfully when needed. Sadly, I see a 20+ point loss without JT.

Yea, but that Cooper kid would make any OC look like a genius.
