2014 Preseason and Regular Season Polls

We will probably get jumped by TCU and Arizona. Stanford Bucky Corn USC LSU UCLA and BYU should all drop below us.

UCLA probably won't but their loss is as shitty as ours or worse, and we had more votes than they do.

I expect the Buckeyes to be #15 in both polls. Buckeyes need Virginia Tech to right the ship and win out.

Keep winning and the Buckeyes probably will be about #8 after beating MSU.

Thought you guys might like to see this, which I thought this was interesting. It is a 2 dimensional map of schedule strength and team strength (http://www.oscarcollegefootball.com/OSCAR_College_Football/OSCAR.html power rating). The map is updated daily and more extensive information is available in an app, which I have not purchased.

Ohio State is located on the map at about the same place as Michigan State and Notre Dame. Wisconsin is with BYU, below Ohio State. Nebraska is to the right of Ohio State.

Concerning Ohio State's SOS, Virginia Tech is in the top quartile, middle. Maryland is below them. Navy is middle of the map, 1/3 up from the bottom. Cincy is next to them. Kent is at the bottom middle. Among elite teams, Ohio State, Michigan State and Notre Dame have the weakest strength of schedule.

These results are consistent with the other predictive computer rankings (as opposed to BCS algorithms that remove or discount margin of victory). Ohio State has been on a rapid trajectory upward and to the right, which suggests to me that they potentially can run the table.

7. Alabama
8. Mich St
9. Georgia
10. Oregon
11. TCU
12. Arizona
13. Oklahoma
14. Tex AM
15. Ohio State
16. Oklahoma State

22. Stanford
23. Clemson
24. Arizona State
25. LSU

*This is my best guess, not what I think it should be. I hate it when a team that just beats another team is still ranked lower the following week but given how high Oregon was ranked and Arizona wasn't ranked at all I can see this happening. Also, Baylor has done absolutely nothing to be ranked that high and will be brought back to earth much like last year. Ohio State should be about 12 in my opinion, maybe 13.

** Actually, after looking at my list I would guess TCU and Oregon will be switched.

This is great stuff. The only problem is that LSU invalidates everything about it. Their strength of team rating is far too high.
