2014 Preseason and Regular Season Polls

Georgia over Nebraska? Auburn over teams like Arizona, UCLA, and Michigan State? Texas A and fucking M is ranked again? These polls make even less sense than they did last week. Bring back the BCS if the CFP committee is going to fuck up this badly.

I know why LSU is on the heels of my Huskers. My Pastor - who has put a curse on me the likes of the 12 plagues on this one - is a McNeese grad, and an LSU fan.

I can get over that one - but come on - behind GEORGIA?!?

There's only ONE two loss team I'd even THINK about putting ahead of Nebraska - and you guys just beat the tar outta them last Saturday.

Committee's making a statement re: its thoughts on the Big Ten--Setting aside Duke, the two lowest ranked one-loss teams are from the conference.

A&M must be ranked. This makes Auburn losing to them seem not so bad after all (despite a 56-0 beatdown a few weeks ago).

With that said, continuing a dream of the playoffs requires, IMO, a Miss St victory of Alabama. A one loss Miss St does us no good and actually makes Bama look good and Miss St a better 1 loss team.

I honestly thought the BCS system was fine if it just picked top teams that lead to the playoffs instead of the national championship, so I totally agree. Auburn should be out of the top 10 after that loss to A&M...instead they are #8. There is zero talk that the Big 12 has done nothing outside of their conference...ok, make the equally valid point that neither has the B1G. But that point falls flat when considering this...aside from the media boner for points scored, what has the Big 12 actually done? A 2-loss KSU team almost beat a 2-loss Auburn team? Sounds a lot like the middling 2-loss Wisconsin program that almost (and should have) beat the mighty SEC opponent in LSU that beat Ole Miss and should have beat Bama. Yet they have SOS because of the false dichotomy set by the yearning for points scored. I will take our top 4-5 versus the top 4-5 Big 12 teams. The Big 12 has done nothing to distinguish themselves as a better conference.

That is the biggest exception I take...how much credit the Big 12 gets. I think the Pac 12 has done their thing inside the conference and out, same with the SEC. Yet the Big 12 and ACC have not. So if a 1-loss team from the SEC or Pac 12 gets picked over us, I have zero qualms. I do, however, have a big issue with a one-loss Big 12 or ACC school jumping us.

I would have to smoke a lot of crack in order to be able to buy into the idea that TCU or Baylor are legitimate title contenders.
