2014 NFL (Well, Browns, so, sorta "NFL") Draft Thread

You were nitpicked on the dumb things you said seriously. So you nitpicked something somebody said intentionally as a joke because you thought he was seriously saying a knee concussion was a real thing.

another failure for you.

Nothing I said was dumb, he is a winner, he is a fierce competitor, he is cocky, he is confident, he is good at football, he has intangibles, he has elusiveness, he makes playes, he has shown that he can learn and improve.

You guys nitpicked at everything I said for over an hour, so I nitpicked for like 5 minutes.
You got me. This one stings. Knee concussion? What the hell is that? It's almost so ridiculous that one could make an argument that I was implying the Browns have such shit luck that their newly drafted qb of the FUTUREFUTUREFUTURE would suffer an injury to end his career the likes of which had never before existed.

But yeah. You got me good.

@Buckeneye you nailed it Farmer pissed his leg on the 9->8 trade... But 26->22 was all old man river Jerra wanna be making the call. I'll give him a pass because that seems more like a Haslem call.

It was Haslam all the way. Last year we panicked a little because we thought he'd attempt to Jerry Jones the draft and go with Geno.
After we took Mingo, I think some of us have been lured to a false sense of security. After tonight's final pick I realized Haslam has some Jerry Jones ignorance/arrogance/pride and when he think he sees gold - all other opinions in the organization be damned. There isn't a chance in hell Farmer, Pettine or our scouts said that Foosball is the next great thing.

Jerry has been learning is lesson. Taking smart picks. Not always the sexy pick. Fredrick now a guard. Rebuilding the team in the trenches.

What's funny, scary and a huge tell-all. You have a legion of Dallas fans watching the draft in your stadium, chanting for Manziel and you pass on him. When Jerry Jones passes on someone who has question marks, but a huge local fanbase, your ears better perk the fuck up. That's a sign you shouldn't be taking said player either. Haslam fucked that up though. Hopefully they can salvage this draft with the best guard, WR and LB available.

Filo, Latimore/Allen, Borland, Abbaraderris and maybe a late round running back. That plus Buffalo's 1st rounder next year will go a long way towards covering up our owners fuck up this year.

Don't worry. If JF blows up and becomes an all pro, all these guys will be on his nuts.

Jaded Clowns fans can get a little bitchy at times.

My posts are coming from a San Fran perspective. The only thing he has going for him as a QB is a big arm and good college numbers. He made some great throws, sure. But the issue isn't really his throwing. He has the physical ability to make all the throws. It's his decision making in the pocket (or outside the pocket). Such as when to step up into the pocket and when to scramble. Scrambling is awesome when it's the best option, but QBs who do one read then run don't work in the NFL. If the Browns want him to succeed, they need to teach him to be a passer first.. because the defenses in that division are much better than the hilarious defenses he played against in colleges.

His size is a concern for his style of play, too. If he's going to run around like a maniac like he did in college, Brian Hoyer is still the QB of the future, sadly.

Just my opinion. I think Bridgewater would've been a better fit for the Browns if they're planning on starting Hoyer next year.

I hope Manziel takes the Browns all the way. I really do. But that doesn't mean I like him. He's a fucking dick.

Instead of bashing 24/7 why don't you get behind this new Browns player like him or not and wish him success?

Believe me. We Want... NEED him to be successful. But most of us have seen this story plays out. We know how it ends. So it's not worth devoting the energy to even fake being excited. We'll just sigh and hope we stumble on a dominant defense and a running game made of gold. It's especially hard being excited about a cocky little prick with glarring holes in his game.

I sat back and watched a ton of people salivate over Brady Quinn too, people were super pumped about McCoy. Hell I saw Brown's fans super pleased about getting Weeden. From early appearance Manziel has gotten a lot more hate than any of the forementioned... and a lot of it is biased bc they don't like his personality. People are usually cocky bc they are good and they know it, they are confident in their abilities and they will work their ass off to do well. That is even more reason to like JF in my mind.

One way I look at all this is Gruden and other well respected guys from the league like him and think JF will do well. Ill take the opinion of guys who have been there then ones who are arm chair QB's who think they know so much more then the guys in the NFL.

That fat ass coach for TSUN is pretty cocky too. So are the players. That phrase "false confidence" comes to mind.

Any idiot that was happy about Quinn or Weeden are the same that are happy about Manziel. I admit I wanted Colt - thought he could be a pretty decent QB. However he was a 3rd rounder. Not a top 25 pick.

What no?! Arm chair QB's are the underated scouting talent in the NFL! Those head coaches and scouts doing this for years and years clearly don't have the knowledge that some hater has who hates Manziel simply bc he is cocky and makes unusual plays!
