Game Thread 2014 B1G Championship Game: tOSU vs. Wisconsin, Dec. 6, 8:17 PM ET, FOX

I don't foresee Wisconsin fans gobbling up a large number of tickets. With OSU having an outside shot at the playoffs, it seems the stakes are much higher for Buckeye fans. That, coupled with the fact that this is UW's 3rd trip in 4 years leads me to believe Badger fans will be significantly out-numbered. Geography alone works strongly in OSU's favor.

Talk is nice...but doesn't happen unless we all actually buy the tickets and go is all I am saying. Plus we gotta bring the energy!

$78 for a game between #11 and #6 for the conference championship is a good deal. Especially when you consider how much a game like this would cost if in The Shoe.

I think Jones will be fine. Maybe a little nervous in the beginning of the game. The thing that I find interesting, will be the play calling.
The last time we were the underdog, was the Michigan State game and Herman did a real good job in his preparation for that one.
Herman has done a fine job all season- our offensive productivity statistics bear this out. But I'm not convinced that you can play call yourself around this. CJ is green and raw, that much is obvious when you watch his few passes. Getting his from green and raw to ready to start against Wiscy in one week is a pretty significant task.

I am glad but also not surprised we opened as dogs (pretty big dogs at that). We can certainly win this game and as I said in the defensive thread surprisingly I am not as nervous as I was 1 week ago when I knew JT was going to QB for our team. The more I think about our run defense not performing as well the last few weeks the more I thought of our opponents. MSU had a better QB, with better TE's, and much better WR's, Indiana ran out of a spread look forcing us to play it honest and the same can be said for scum. The only game that concerns me with our performance is the Minnesota game which is what we are more than likely going to see instead of a bunch of spread looks.

As Urban said right after the game (never heard him say this before) this week he stated we are going to have to do something different in order for us to stop the run game. That means we are probably going to sell out to stop their run game and IMO that's obviously what we should do. Being 4 point dogs, playing in the game we lost last year, and hearing all week how bad we are going to get beat on defense I think the defense will show up in a big way. Especially with the defense realizing they need to play lights out for us to have a better chance to win without JT. Remember we shut this teams run game down last year with roughly the same type of defense (perhaps better) and although we gave up massive yards through the air who do they have that can do what #4 did for them last year? The answer is no one they don't have that kind of game this year and they don't have nearly the personnel they did to hurt us vertically.

As for losing JT I also posted in his thread but I'll say this again here. I'm not saying JT can be replaced easily and that I don't expect a drop off in production (because we probably won't be as successful in ways). However, the way JT has played since that Knee issue at PSU (outside of MSU of course) I feel Cardale can do a lot of the things JT has been doing of late. Lets be real JT hasn't been as sharp since that PSU game as far as passing goes he has been missing guys more so, throwing more INTs, and has had a bunch of yards off tap passes. That's not to say JT isn't good because he's awesome and I feel he gives us a better shot next year over Braxton but as of late he hasn't been quite as sharp passing the ball which is why we have started to see his rushing numbers increase dramatically and ultimately it cost him his season by getting injured on a run. I think Cardale can be for this offense what JT has been for this offense as of late (minus the MSU game) and that is someone who is going to run the ball, someone that can move the chains, hit the swing passes, hit the tap passes, be a 55% passer on the intermediate stuff, and of course go play action to drive the ball down field.

IMO the one area Cardale has over JT it is he can drive the ball much further with less air. I wouldn't be surprised to see us take a shot deep early. We just need Cardale to be a 55%, 180-200 yards, and 50 yard rushing guy we don't need him to take over a game that's why we have Jalin, Samuel and Zeke. If there is ever a game where our speed guys need to take over its this one. Bottom line we can win and I feel we will.

Overall the Buckeyes are the more talented team. Gordon is the best runner on the field but Zeke is the better all-around RB in my opinion.
Composure, Confidence and Chemistry is going to be key in winning this game. Both our O and D need to play disciplined, assignment football. SCHEME is going to be paramount in this game. IF the coaches can give our players that right schemes on both sides of the ball, and we win the turnover battle, we should come away with a win. I really believe this is a scheme/design issue as much as it is an execution issue. I know that is always the case, but even more so in this game.

I think that what we did against MSU should work well against UW as they will try to pressure CJ relentlessly with various stunts and blitz packages. Our OL is going to have to make the adjustments and the receivers are going to have to make separation. We all know that on Defense stopping the run is going to be THE KEY to winning this game.

GO BUCKS! Beat UW!

My hope is that Barrett being out gives the defense the motivation they need to play to their full potential. It appears at times as though the defense knows how good the offense is and bends more than they should on the assumption we can score our way out of problems.

My gut says at the end of the day, the X-Factor is going to be Cardale's speed. He's a massive man and moves much quicker than anyone his size ever should. I don't think that type of size-speed combination is one that can really be gauged accurately until seen on the field, so I think there's an opportunity to exploit it.

Come on man...EzE has had a solid year, and is turning into a fine back, but Gordon isn't just a runner...he's a complete back. His vision may be second to none in CFB right now, and the way he can studder step makes him a HR threat every time. At to that his compact size and low center of gravity, and he's probably the hardest guy to complete a tackle on, except probably Gurley. The only thing he hasn't been is a threat to catch the ball, and I don't know if that's on him, or the staff. Add the fact that he actually has been more successful in pass protection this year, and the guy is likely the best talent in college football.

I mean, maybe you are harping on his weaknesses in the passing game...but I think that's more a weakness on Wisconsin in general.

It's mostly on the staff. One of only a few downsides of Gordon's game last year was his pass pro and his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield, hence why he returned for another season. As you noted, he has improved on the former this year, and has shown off some pretty good hands as well (he caught a nice TD pass vs. Minnesota).

If he has one weakness, it's top-end speed. There have been plenty of occasions where he seems to be gone, only to be caught from behind by defenders.

I clearly stated Gordon was the better runner. EE is the better blocker and better receiver, imho. He is also a very good runner (see his average yards per carry). He is also probably faster than Gordon. That makes him a better ALL around back in that he is more of a complete player. JMO

he's no where near as fast as Gordon... Not even close really... Ok close but it'd be by a good 3 yards in a 100 meter dash
