At what point will they put "no contact" jerseys on the non-freshman linebackers?

Maybe it is time to draw up the 4-1-6 defense?

Conversations with your imagination are much more fun than linking what you read.

With Roberts transferring, the official roster now lists just 4 scholarship LB (incoming FR are not included).

48 Burger, Joe LB 6-1 238 SO Cincinnati, Ohio (LaSalle)
49 Cataline, Craig LB 6-1 235 JR Columbus, Ohio (Grandview Heights)
38 Fada, Craig LB 6-0 226 SO Columbus, Ohio (Bishop Watterson)
14 Grant, Curtis LB 6-3 241 JR Richmond, Va. (Hermitage)
37 Perry, Joshua LB 6-4 243 SO Lewis Center, Ohio (Olentangy)
10 Shazier, Ryan LB 6-2 222 JR Pompano Beach, Fla. (Plantation)
46 Snyder, Nick LB 6-1 200 SO Columbus, Ohio (Westerville South)
5 Williams, Camren LB 6-1 231 SO West Roxbury, Mass. (Catholic Memorial)

Fortunately the 4 on scholarship are pretty good and Joe Burger is going to make some noise.

That's not good depth I know, but I could see a lot of nickel being played this year, at least, so it makes the depth a little less of a critical item.

won't matter much IMO anyways because we're going to see a ton of Nickle defense all year. Boy you really hope that mitchell and Johnson can come in and pick up the system quick because we're going to need the depth.

our nickle guys should be very solid though this year with either Powell, #30 (escapes me at the moment), Bryant, or dark horse incoming freshman Bell.

As long as our defense stops giving up those 30+ yard plays I won't care if we are playing with 7 defensive backs. Bottom line good defenses don't give up as many big plays as we did and you have to hope that the communication on the back end will be better this year.

We know what Shazier will bring to the table, but Williams, Grant, and Perry haven't shown anything yet and I'm a "believe it when I see it" kind of guy. Hopefully those two can play up to their potential.

It does help that the base defense will only use two LB'ers primarily throughout the entire year, but only having 6 of them on scholarship for this season is kind of a scary thought. Hope everyone can stay healthy.

Perry shown some potential as a TRUE FRESHMAN playing in a few games last year... wasn't much but was at least something. I'm not worried with what we have now. however, a injury would be extremely detrimental.

Mostly agreed.....I do think Perry showed well in his spots, but the lack of depth has to worry you to some degree. Heaven forbid Shazier goes down a game this year....
