2013 Preseason and regular polls

And FWIW, for those who say next year solves everything and we can go back to not giving two [Mark May]s about conference strength and rooting for tsun to lose every game, this year's 1-loss Ohio State team gets left out of the playoff, and don't think there wouldn't be pressure to keep sparty out in favor of Baylor.

Your point about SOS and conference strength is true. It's not my responsibility to root for M*ch*g*n to do well though. My role as a fan is to wish nothing but failure and misery for them. Their responsibility is to do well in spite of that. For most of my life that was the order of the universe. I'm holding up my end of the bargain, they're not holding up theirs.

My rooting for Michican's misery is not indicative of their performances.... Brady Hoke's shit coaching is.

It isn't Ohio State's (or MSU's) fault no one can perform at a higher level in the Big Ten.

I'm just tired of hearing how good the SEC is, when all they do is beat each other up. There's maybe 1 marquee matchup once every 4-5 years in the entire conference, yet they get a free pass because the conference who plays nobody but themselves is SOOOO GOOOOOOD according to CBS/ESPN. Fuck that.

I can't separate the two right now. I can't consciously root for something to happen that might end up being to the detriment of Ohio State's interests. Should the Big Ten bounce back and Corn, Wiscy, Sparty and even the pedsters all be legit top 15 programs and we're over on FOX where I don't have to listen to espin during the games, I'll go back to enjoying their struggle. We're not at the point, however.......not by a long shot.

Also for everyone bitching about commercials during the FOX telecast last night, you know what I didn't hear or see? Three and a half of hours of using an Ohio State game to tell the audience how shitty, Ohio State and the Big Ten are and how Auburn deserved the national title shot over us. It was god damned refreshing compared to what we would have endured had Frosty and The Tard been calling the game over on ABC.

Now Herbie, I'm not sayin' the Big Ten sucks and Ohio State is overrated......but the Big Ten sucks and Ohio State is overrated.

Mmm Hmmm. War Eagle, Brent!

I just have a hard time believing Michigan is the issue. Considering where they were with Rich Rod, a winning season should be praised.

IMO the issue is Iowa not doing anything meaningful the last decade, it's Nebraska who have only underwhelmed since joining, it's. Northwestern who can't seem to jump into the upper echelon, it's Penn State getting buried by sanctions. There are so many things wrong with the Big Ten that even I have a hard time giving Michigan shit for their failures, although they are hilarious.

I agree with this. It's not just Michigan. The problem is much bigger than that, and a strong Michigan alone will not overcome the negative perception about the league. We really need--out of Michigan, sparty, corn, pedsters and wiscy--three of those programs to be solid, legit top 15 programs on an annual basis and another two or three teams to be legit top 25 teams on an irregular basis. The Michigan situation, however, is the biggest and most key component to that problem. It's the one program that can do the most by itself to start turning that perception around, though it will need a few more to also do so. The game needs to go back to being one of the marquee college games of the season and not a rivalry based upon people tuning in to see if tsun can trip us up and ruin our season.

We need Iowa and Northwestern to be those low top 25 guys, at worst.

Penn State, needs to continue to find ways to recruit.

Nebraska, IMO, is the biggest issue. I was convinced they would come in and dominate the lower tier teams. They've done exactly the opposite. They seem to struggle with everyone.

Call the Big Ten weak all you want. It's still one of the most stingiest when it comes to mid tier teams trying to make that next huge step toward success.

I agree but anytime a team other than the Big 2, Little 10 does good its considered a fluke season for that team. Same can be said about the Pac12 (Stanford and USC) and the Big 12 (Texas and Oklahoma). The media and SEC fans however want you to buy that its: Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Georgia, SC, Missouri, etc. right to be inside the Top 25 every single year without question.

Gotta love double standards. Especially coming from "unbiased" journalists with no actual vested interest. lol

One team in this League has the goal of Winning the NC..until the other programs even improve enough to think about a NC, tOSU will have to carry the conference Banner by themselves.

I can't bring myself to wish anything good for scU*. That being said, if they can improve, MSU can maintain, PSU gets a little more help, and someone actually wins the west, the Buckeyes might have the hardest consecutive games to end the season anywhere in the country during the 2015 season, and possibly one of the hardest schedules in the 2016 season.
