2013-14 Bowl Games Open Thread

I think they had a new AD at the time (not the current one). I also think Tim Brewster sold them a bill of goods after Mason was fired.

Exactamundo, Ringo. They hired a guy named Maturi from Fredo, and like all Fredoites, his self-regard preceded him through the door by about five minutes. He was going to put his stamp on Minnesota starting with running off Mason. Throwing boatloads of cash at Tubby Smith and hiring the worst coach in Minnesota hockey history were also some of his "accomplishments." Eventually, the Minny President gave him a Luca Brasi option and forced his retirement and kicked him upstairs to some harmless advisory role after the clown publicly went against the Big Ten Presidents and tried to derail the Big Ten Hockey Conference. I guess the imbecile thought it was "College Hockey" in the upper left hand corner of those paychecks.

The words "gimme" and Gophers are never in the same sentence, except for most years when the Buckeyes are playing them.
Yep. The varmints have now dropped six straight bowl games dating back to 2005 against such heavyweights as Virginia, Texas Tech (x2), Kansas, and Iowa State. They are an anchor on this conference OOC, and have been for years.

Rutgers has 3 double digit wins all season: Norfolk State, Eastern Michigan, South Florida. All six teams they defeated finished with losing records.

I'll be surprised if ND doesn't blow them off the field.

I'm surprised Rutgers is throwing so much, and they're attacking Russell of all the players in ND's secondary. Russell is probably the best cover corner on the team, better than Senior Captain, Bennett Jackson. Most teams haven't even tried to throw on Russell all season, he's pretty much lock down.

Rutgers is going to have their way with ND's Special Teams, it's a big weak point on this Irish squad. Already they've come up with a turnover off the normally sure handed TJ Jones. This could end up being a low scoring game with a struggling Irish offense which is now missing Folston in their backfield.

Ugh, I don't want to listen to Jesse Palmer all game. Dude doesn't know what he's talking about. Talking about Bennett Jackson being ND's shut down corner. If shut down corner means you get beat often, then yes, Jackson is a shut down corner. He got beat for the TD too.
