2012 TSUN shenanigans and arguments

Dymonte didn't have an offer from Ohio State when he committed to UM. Meyer is trying to rectify that situation that the previous staff botched badly. I don't think that one sticks.

Otherwise, it can't be denied that the run Hoke and company are currently on is quite impressive.

It makes me curious what the "pitch" is that has been so effective. Regardless, it certainly seems like the rivalry is about to be taken up a few notches.

Agree, and I was not clear. I was replying more to the implied point, which is that Hoke is picking up kids that OSU doesn't want.

And with Tuley-Tillman make that three with OSU offers.

And add another Ohio kid without an offer in Jake Butt.

Say what you like, there is something interesting going on in AA right now.

We could just rationalize it away like all the morons from other fan bases trying to undermine the amazing close to OSU's 2012 recruiting class.

Shallman was a Michigan kid, always going to UM.

Tillman was always Michigan.

Fox was a good get, but he had no major connections to Ohio State so not a "loss".

Charlton and Butt weren't going to get offers from OSU.

See?

Not a big deal at all!

Of course, I am being sarcastic- this was a very good weekend up north on the recruiting trail. Their offensive line haul thus far is particularly impressive.

This is how Michigan is supposed to recruit. The failures they had in office from 07-10 made a lot of people forget the classes that flock to that school.

Great start and clearly Hoke will continue to recruit well.

The big two is coming back in an even bigger way and regrettably with rematches.

I guess it comes down to who you have more faith in...Brady Hoke or Urban Meyer.

I would not take Butt or Charlton over Hatcher, Allen, Bosa, or Daniels...no way in heck

They did good with OOS OL. If today showed anything is that they will recruit Illinois well...they always have.

The kids they got from Michigan should suprise noone...Neither should Butt or Charlton because neither were getting offers anyways.

Recruiting is a marathon not a sprint. We will end the recruiting season with 10+ top 100 kids.

Looks like a LLoyd Carr class to me.

Josh is right in that Hoke is recruiting much more "Michigan-style" than did Dick Rod, and that Michigan will be back near the top of the conference on a consistent basis.

brutus2002 is right in that Hoke is not Meyer, and while Hoke will get top 10 and top 5 classes year in and year out, Meyer will get top 5 classes every fucking year and top 3 classes most years, with some #1 clases sprinkled in. Plus the fact that Meyer is light years ahead of Hoke as a game coach. Huge difference.

If we're looking at this weekend from purely just OSU's perspective, this is the loss:

1. Chris Fox. Who knew this guy was all blue? One could have figured he'd be an open recruit (coming from Colorado with no real in-state threat). And that is someone you'd. See Meyer snag closer to signing day. But obviously Hoke got on top of this one early last year, pushed for the early verbal and OSU never really had a chance to get a foot in the door. If we had, things may have been different.

2. Jake Butt and Taco Charlton. We didn't lose these prospects so much as we lost the opportunity to further evaluate them at camp and the ability to use them as Plan B type players. Butt, in particular, is the kind of recruit JT would have locked up just to keep him from Michigan. It's clear that Urban will not do that. It's not enough to simply block Michigan so we can beat them. We're trying to win national titles.

The rest of the guys Michigan got were guys you could have penciled into their class for a while. It just so happens they all committed in one weekend. This will allow Michigan to focus more of their time trying to put playmakers around the overrated Shane Morris. Guys like Isaac, Treadwell, etc. That's the big accomplishment for Hoke this weekend.

Dantonio's window is closing in a hurry.

I included 07 because Lloyd's staff was dreadful in Ohio at the end of his tenure.

Not at all trying to down play what Hoke has accomplished, but in terms of head-to-head he is still playing the advantage he has over Meyer's recent hire. Early 2013 kids are more like late 2012 kids in terms of established relationships.

That said, OSU had offered Shallman and Tulley-Tillman whether they were "penciled in" at UM or not. Sound like "wins" for Hoke to me.

I don't really know much about Shane Morris. What makes him overrated?

In the Catholic League where he plays, he has just one touchdown the last two years in league play. That's total.

In a state where the competition is generally pretty weak, one would expect the so-calledc best quarteback in the country to be able to perform against his best competition. He hasn't. So I'm wondering where he gets his high rating. Camp performances most likely. But those are glorified practices. Sounds like Morris is a practice player.

And all of that is consistent with his gelled hair.
