2012 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Just a comment relative to all the DE interest tUM is generating.

If Williams returns it will make 14 returning scholarship DL - plus Washington.

Gonna be some sorting out to do.

I think many of the 14 have proven they're more inside type players rather than true DEs. JMHO

I'm thinking that, if I am Meyer, I would have realized the possibility of an opening at Ohio State and I would have been watching recruiting very closely.

That's a good point. Wouldn't be surprised to see some switch to OLine. Better chance for playing time over there anyways, all things considering.

I posit the attrition will be significant but will not occur before signing day ('12).

When UFM took over at BG the attrition was massive.

There are soe players that will be in for a shock.

My sense is that any sense of entitlement will be blown up.

Winter conditioning will be brutal.
I sort of agree with this. I don't know whether the attrition will be "massive" - I certainly hope that the kids on the current Ohio State roster have more heart and desire than those kids on UFM's initial Bowling Green squad - but there will undoubtedly be a few players who can't take it and end up transferring or quitting.

I bet we get Spence, Pittman, Caleb, Jones, Diamond, and Dodson.
That would be a pretty good bet; Jones is the only real reach on that list, and his interest level may continue to go up.

If we keep Dunn, and get Pittman, two quality offensive linemen, and an impact defensive linemen, then that would be a great close to this class. With that being said, I think we'll actually do better than that.

I just hope that all of the interest being spoken of isn't just curiosity and is full fledged interest. Mostly because I must tell you I have always followed recruiting but now with the prospects that Urb has talking about tOSU it has turned into an obsession its like christmas every day I start checking the boards. This top five end and that top QB and possibly 2013 top recruit in the country. I LOVE THIS [removed].

I think it's a mix of both. Kids like Diamond and Spence are definitely interested as evidenced by their comments. Other kids like Jones/Winston may just be window shopping, but get them on campus, let UFM work his magic, and who knows? The guy is a recruiting dynamo. There's a buzz around this program that is unprecedented right now. Six weeks ago, people were worried this class wasn't going to be up to snuff, now they have 5* kids practically lining up just to visit. Even if UFM doesn't slay it these last six+ weeks, 2012 and beyond is going to be insane (like 2008 all over again). JT and staff were magnificent recruiters, but I think UFM will have this program at USC mid '00s level (minus the cheating, of course) in the coming years. :)

I think Dunn will switch which will open up another spot for a high offensive/defensive line recruit. Maybe a a LBer.
2012 class will be a very good one. Top ten-fifteen.
As long as our needs(O-line/LBer/DE) are addressed no problem.

Top 10-15? This class likely ends up at least that. I'd wager a large sum 2012 is top-3.

I thought about this as well and it depends on how many spots their are to fill, 20 to maybe 23 maybe more, and how many of these elite recruits actually sign. I'm hoping that this wave of interest is more than just interest. But a big finish is clearly in the forecast.

Yeah, I was thinking this class was 2011, Urban's first full class 2012. I'm retarded. I think Taos was right on, top 10-15 this year, I think top-3 for 2013. I get a little loopy after working all night.
