2012 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

It's recruiting momentum...UM capitalized on it when RR and Hoke were hired. Illinois did when Zook was hired. The question is can you sustain it?

IMO 2013 could be scary good. If we could somehow get 23 scholarships for 2013 it could be one of the greatest if not the greatest Buckeye class ever. I went through various agencies 4 and 5 star prospects. Here is what I found.

We are legitimately in on 31 of the 24/7 top 247!!!!!!!! 18 of the top 100!!!!

If we make the NCG or win it next season or in 2013 the sky is the limit.

I love the impact players on defense that we are bringing in. Defense wins Championships so they say. Now, I am hoping that a certain RB will see that the opportunities for handling the ball will be greater with a shutdown defense, as well as, not having to go against that defense.

I'm always a proponent of your DL winning that championship on defense...always is the difference between the SEC and other conferences. The 2012 class is going to go a long way towards that. Looking prospectively at '11, '12 and '13:

DE: Miller, Hayes, Washington, Pittman, Spence(?), Jaylon Smith(?)
DT: Bennett, Hale, Schutt, Farris, Elflein (see him on defense), Price (?)

- YEAH. Yikes.

Man, I've been laughing out loud for the past couple of days. I come on here and watch another big time recruit come on board, then I go to the GoBlow website and watch the "sky is falling" posts. Its fantastic! :slappy:

With the recommit of Dunn you have to put what has happened in less than three weeks in the category of dramatic.

tUM has slapped MSU and PSU in the face by taking the #1 commit from each.

And if you believe that Dunn was heading to the dark side (there is strong evidence that this was the case) he has now put an exclamation mark on any statement regarding where OSU stands in the Big Ten.

Dunn would have been the jewel of Michigan's class. Hoke gets him and he can continue to sell the Michigan resurgence story line right into the heart of the 2013 recruiting season. But now tUM has made the statement that such nonsense is over after less than three weeks on the job.

I understood what kids were buying into up north. It was real. OSU was in disarray and UM was putting together a class that could rank near the top in the country. I could understand a Kyle Kallis saying "Sorry home state, but I want to be a part of something special, and this appears to be it."

Now, after spotting them 90 yards in a 100 yard dash we may finish with the best class in the conference THIS year - not next. Land Spence, a couple of solid OL and a speedster or two and kids like Kallis may be asking themselves just what they have done and why they did it.

tUM has two months and 7 or so slots to work with. It already has "win" written all over it.

Don't let anyone kid you. Keeping Dunn is huge. Larger even in the message it sends than in the talent it delivers.
