2011 Women's World Cup

Was it Chastain, or the woman that was doing the play by play that said after the Swedes beat the US that "nothing ever good comes from celebrating that much this early in the tournament."

She called that one.

It was Julie Foudy during the broadcast (technically following the game). They were doing the dance after the game around midfield and she said that.

Happy that Japan won. This was the final I wanted because I enjoyed the way Japan plays with possession. Also happy they acknowledge the donations and support following the tsunami.

Should be a good final.

I watched the replay of the match (most of it, missed the first goal) earlier. Even though I knew the USA had already won the match was still exciting to watch. Wambach's and Morgan's goals were damn impressive. What time is the final? How much of a challenge is Japan going to be?

Soccer (world cup level) is the only sport in the world where I would watch both the men's and women's games equally.

I'd just like to say I think Nacib, on France's side, is f-a-n-t-a-s-t-i-c. I love this game.

Came back in here to post the same thing. Wow. Pictures don't seem to do her justice.

She had my eye the whole game. And her skills were amazing. Great feet. Great ball skills. Good shot.

I didn't imagine any soccer during the 2 minutes, but I think she's pretty good at that too.

I'll still hold out for my girl Lauren Cheney because of proximity (:paranoid:) and her overall game, but this whole team is very easy on the eyes.

Landstrom from Sweden looks like the type that wants to do some work in the bedroom.

You're going to have to donkey punch her or she's going to donkey punch you. :box:

Since some sports business analysts have already hinted that endorsements for the U.S. women's soccer team won't be coming (even in a win), one suggestion to stay in the news could be:

Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue

Small, devoted section similar to what the publication did with snowboarders/skiers, Danica Patrick and professional female tennis players (Maria Sharapova/Maria Kirlienko).

Soccer fever has hit this country. Well, as much as soccer fever can. The dramatic header by Abby Wambach, which eventually led to a shootout victory over Brazil last Sunday, has plenty of people drinking the marketing Kool-Aid.

Some even said the team's beautiful goalie Hope Solo would be on her way to making millions. Um, what? No.

2 p.m. ET Sunday on ESPN

They've (Japan) kept the ball mostly from the other team the past two games (Germany/Sweden). Getting the ball off of them with their possession-style is the challenge.

But the Japanese goalie can be beat.
