2011 TSUN shenanigans and arguments (off season)

Or Mr. Spence, Mr. Washingon, Mr. Pittman, and Mr. Schutt meet Mr. Kalis, Mr. Magnuson, Mr. Williams, Mr. Braden, Mr. Bars, and Mr. Stacey...

..not to mention we have a future 1st round draft pick and AA on the OL who is only a RS soph right now in Taylor Lewan and another stud RS soph in Mike Schofield...etc.

And I'm thinking with Hoke's emphasis on OL recruiting we'll manage to get by somehow.

gem from the scout michigan board

They are of course operating under the assumption Hoke can sustain this kind of recruiting success with Meyer in place and no annual occurrence of Tatgate.

I mean the prize of their class is Kalis right? They of course believe Bobby Bacala will catch lightning in a bottle every year and one good recruiting class makes the almost complete whiff on the past 3 just magically go away.

Then again, these are the same people who spent the past 3 years trying to convince us all of the impending B1G domination by Rich Rodriguez so maybe I'll take their opinions on football with the appropriate grain of salt.

I don't follow recruiting at all, but if by any chance that Kalis kid were to recommit to tOSU, can you imagine the proverbial mushroom cloud rising from that board???

Would a mushroom cloud really look all that different from the cannabis cloud they are currently living in?

A lot of good posters disappeared during the RR years. I used to enjoy reading their boards for good info - and honest suffering.

Now it's just saber rattling.

To be fair, we're doing the same thing. Right now Meyer is the new hotness. I'm not going to be willing to assume we're going to pull this caliber of athletes year in and year out yet, until it actually happens.

I dig the modesty and all, but us hoping Meyer repeats his proven success is different than scUM hoping Hoke isn't a flash in the pan.

What seems more probable to you;

Urban Meyer produces a reasonable facsimile of the success he's produced at every stop along his coaching career, specifically the recruiting success he demonstrated at UF........

or

..............Brady Hoke making the annual lynchpin of his recruiting class an Ohio kid that was an OSU commit then backed out because of the perceived fallout from Tatgate?

I always compare our recruiting class with theirs in the following way: Who do they have that we would want over our commitments?

They have Kalis, who is an obvious upgrade over our OL recruits; if we get a Dodson or a Diamond, then we can call this one a draw, although I would still find room for Kalis.

At MLB, their guy (Ross) is a better prospect than our guy (Roberts).

At OLB, it is a toss-up between their guy (Bolden) and our guy (Perry).

All of their other prize recruits (Wormley, Strobel, Pipkins) are easily trumped by our guys (Washington, Spence, Schutt).

So, they have two guys whom I would want in our class.

On the other hand, who do we have that they would want over their recruits?

We have Dunn, Washington, Pittman, Spence, Schutt, and Ball ... and I think that we'll get two or three more to add to that list. And Michigan has no reasonable chance to get guys who will be equal to or better than those six players.

So we have at least six guys whom they would want.

No contest - Ohio State is winning the 2012 recruiting war.
